About the adventure
The end of the world itself approaches! Old gods are being roused from their slumber, prodded by followers eager to reap the power of these ancient beings - no matter the cost. If you don't put a stop to it, reality itself risks being torn asunder. The campaign will begin with an expedition in 1920's Lima, Peru to explore a hidden pyramid that holds secrets just squirming to find their way out. From there, the game quickly expands into a globe-trotting adventure to find out what happened to the unfortunate Carlyle Expedition. And most importantly, avoid their same fate. Players will explore all kinds of cities across the world and rely on their wits and their fellow investigators to solve this global mystery. Beginner players are more than welcome at the table! We will be making characters together as a part of session 0. I will be bringing music, mood, and digital handouts for players - scanned from the phenomenal prop set designed by the HP Lovecraft Historical Society.

Meet the Game Master
About me
A warm welcome to one and all, but especially friends to all things that creep and crawl, the strange and the macabre. Make yourself comfortable by the fireside and let's tell a story together. I'm Arthur (he/him), the queer resident swamp vampire, or possibly just 3 gators in a trenchcoat. I'm a big fan of the weird, spooky, and strange and bring my enthusiasm for horror to the table whether that be skulking through the alleys of Miskatonic, roaming the Mists of Ravenloft, or avoiding the grinding gears of the eternal political machine of the Danse Macabre. I strive to create worlds that players can get lost in. I create NPCs with compelling backstories. And I like using music and props to help make the story more immersive. But above all, I'm the biggest fan of my players and the stories they want to tell. I've been GMing for over a decade since college. I've made lifelong friendships through this wonderfully weird hobby. There have been many systems that have come and gone over the years, but one thing remains constant: The hunger for fulfilling stories centered on the player characters. I also try to make my table as inclusive as possible. I've been able to explore many aspects of my identity thanks to tabletop games and understand how vital having that space can be. Session 0s are a must for the group to talk out what is and isn't appropriate for our table, and I am a firm believer in safety tools such as lines/veils and the X card. I'm always excited to introduce new folks to the hobby so never fear! (Except d4s. Do fear those, they're the worst to find underfoot) So grab a character sheet, light a candle, and huddle in close. The night is long and dark, but there are friends around this fire, and I can't wait to hear the tales you will tell.

Creating your character
Character creation will happen during Session 0 after Lines & Veils are established. We will discuss character backstories, identities, and shared history. This is to help create characters that all fit into an investigation group together and establish what dynamics we want to see in the game. We'll be using the character backstory creation in the Session Zero System designed by Gabe Hicks and Elise Rezendes. This will help create some character backstory and motive, as well as giving the party a few connection points Character sheets will be created and maintained over Roll20
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a working mic and a free Roll20 account. We will be using Roll20 for keeping track of character sheets, dice rolling, and some background images and notes. I will be using a camera during game but players can keep their cameras on or off according to their comfort level.

How Arthur G creates a safe table
We'll have a session 0 to discuss the general tone of the campaign and the preferences of the group on things like lethality, kinds of horror, and how closely to stick to the 1920's history. The lines/veils doc will be anonymous and available for the group to change at any time during the campaign. We'll also determine how long people would prefer for the sessions & how frequently people would like to take breaks. X, N, O's can be messaged either to the group at large or can be sent to me privately.
