About the adventure

Rumors of the cult of the ancient Blood God grow louder after the blood moon appears over the jungle and bloody rain falls for the first time in a thousand years. An ancient temple hidden deep in the jungle may hold the answers you seek – will you risk it all to uncover its secrets? Open the Crypt of the Fallen Cult where the worshipers of evil once performed their wicked rituals. Go deep into the jungle in search of the ancient Temple of Dush’bandaar, the Goddess of Blood. Is the temple really abandoned… or does the blood moon foreshadow something sinister happening there? The Temple of the Blood God is a one-shot dungeon crawl for parties at level 5! Featuring daunting monsters and a multitude of obstacles for players to overcome!

About me

Hey, I'm Paul! I’ve been playing D&D for eight years and running games for five. My goal is to deliver immersive, player driven sessions where your choices matter and the world responds in meaningful ways. Roleplay is a big part of my games. NPCs feel like real people, and I love when a session naturally leans into character moments or unexpected detours. I encourage roleplay but never force it. Combat is fast, tactical, and dangerous. Enemies think and adapt, and the battlefield is part of the challenge. I want you to feel like your decisions matter, whether you’re in a fight or finding a creative way around one. Exploration is more than travel. I like to include puzzles, skill challenges, and unexpected moments that make the world feel alive and worth discovering. I’m always open to chatting about your playstyle or any specific ideas you have. If this sounds like the kind of game you’d enjoy, feel free to reach out, I’d love to have you at the table!

Paul did a great job DMing our in person table campaign which lasted almost a year. I have not played in one of his online games yet but if it's anything like in real life, I highly recommend you check him out. He keeps it fair and fun for everyone, he also tries to include everyone in the immersive experience he creates, without being pushy. A+ DM

Paul is really good at telling stories. He's great at bringing the world to life and pays close attention to little details, which makes his stories super interesting. He's also really nice to everyone who plays with him, especially if they're new and might not know what they're doing. Paul works hard to make sure everyone feels welcome and supported in a very inclusive environment. His stories are complex, and he's really good at working together with everyone to make the game fun.

Character creation
Creating your character

Character creation will happen before the game starts. Ideally a few days before, or at least 30 mins before we start. Everyone will begin their journey as Level 5 and the process will occur one of two ways: • Create your character on D&D Beyond (free) with any help you might need from me. (For people experienced with D&D) • Select from a list of premade characters I have already made. (For new players and beginners) Character Creation Rules: • All classes and subclasses from every D&D 5e sourcebook are allowed. • Ability scores are determined using the Point Buy system (https://chicken-dinner.com/5e/5e-point-buy.html) You start with the following equipment (using https://dnd5e.info/magic-items/magic-items-by-rarity): 500gp to buy any items you want One uncommon magic item Normal starting equipment & starting gold All characters must be approved by the DM. If you need help with backstory, race/class ideas, etc. feel free to let me know.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

🎤 A decent microphone 💻 A computer or laptop and a web browser (preferably Google Chrome) to run Foundry VTT 💬 (free) A Discord account as well as the Discord application installed on the device where you will connect your microphone ⚔️ (free) A D&D Beyond account where we will create our characters 🖼️ (free) An image for your character. You can either create one yourself, find one online, or I can help you with this if needed. ••• No need to learn the rules but it would be useful to know your character's abilities. Got a question? Send it over! ••• For new players, I highly recommend you check out the Handbooker Helper series by Critical Role. They have several 3-4 minute videos introducing new players to learn the basics of Dungeons & Dragons. Safety
How Paul creates a safe table

We'll delve into the module's content, settings, and themes, addressing any potential concerns related to the campaign material. Additionally, I'll provide guidance on navigating and utilizing Foundry VTT which is what we will be using as our virtual tabletop. To round off the pre-session, we'll explore character creation and discuss game rules. Players can expect faced paced combat and a deep roleplaying gaming experience.
