About the adventure
Wish you could play D&D throughout the week without needing to wait until a preset session time/date? Then look no further! Join up with a Play-By-Post campaign! Hosted on a dedicated and organized Discord Channel you can hop on your mobile phone and play via text any time of the day (so long as your DM and/or some fellow players are awake at least!) This campaign will be played via PBP on a Dedicated Discord channel with some interconnectivity with Roll20 and World Anvil for lore. Discover Lost treasures and ruins of the Wildeshade Wood! Build, Defend, and Aide the people of Forste! Contribute to the missions and success of the Guild, Armer Stolte! Within a deep and dense magical forest, the settlers of Forste dwell. Stranded by the closure of a magical gate a century ago, they've built and maintained a small city. However, wild elves, monsters, and the living forest continue to make life a daily struggle. Now, overpopulation adds to the threat as they struggle to keep their families fed. Foraging expeditions are met with cruel claws and teeth. Wild elves poach their unprotected farmlands and logging crews. Even more troubling, recent years have had scouts note large winged creatures with scales that breath the very essence of the elements! In response, the Armer Stolte, a band of adventurers, scouts, and hunters assembled the Storslatt, or Great Hunt, in an attempt to quell some of these creature's advances on the city. Many individuals seek to join these hunts for glory, but many only return as a name on the Wall of the Fallen. Hope dwindles amongst the people...the guild now runs empty of new recruits... Except for YOU! Of course. You and your fellow adventurers find yourselves as new recruits on a course to change the fate of the city...hopefully. Join the roster of this guild, at least in the start, in this Play-By-Post adventure! You and your party will work with the guild to aide the folks of Forste and maybe yourselves!. Gameplay will take place at a pace determined by the party as a whole, with a minimum expected posting pace to be determined in the Session Zero thread. A dedicated Roll20 game will be made available to provide full compendium access, characters sheets (which are accessible via smartphone app if interested), and handouts. While this is a PBP, I will still be providing character artwork to those interested and will still be creating Encounter/Regional maps for key events and areas! These will be posted to the discord.

Are you new to Role Playing Games? Want to learn and you're intimidated after listening to a dozen podcasts and reading how you need a 'perfect build'? Are you interested in sinking your teeth into D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, or Starfinder, but don't have a group? Look no further because I've been there and done that! Through my life D&D has popped up occasionally, yet would always fall by the wayside because I "didn't have the friends to play". Well, in early 2021 that all changed due to my lovely wife. I mentioned it one day at lunch and she said this simple phrase, "Sounds fun. I can get people if you want." She came back with 15 invites and 7 confirmations...a huge party for a first time DM that's for sure! Luckily for you, if you're already here, you don't necessarily need an awesome person like my spouse to help you get started! You already found the perfect place here at SPG to find a group and a GM (me!) to help you get started into this wonderful world of fantasy and imagination! What I love about TTRPGs is setting up scenarios, playing through combat, and seeing what whacky and crazy ideas my players come up with! Some of the best moments happen when a player starts off with "So…I have a crazy idea…". Don't forget that! Creating your character
We will have a Session Zero Discord channel open for discussion amongst the group of individual character creation. If you'd like a more private experience we can communicate via Discord PM. All characters will be created either by Point Buy OR Rolling for Stats (4d6, drop lowest) with one set reroll. Characters will begin at level 1 with a free Feat, at my approval. This setting is heavily human oriented; however, I'm open to ANY character race, class, etc. as long as it is discussed ahead of time to fit it into the lore/region.
PBP is played via text on discord throughout the week; however, billing will be weekly at the times posted. This is a Play by Post Adventure! Gameplay will be asynchronous at times. We do not have set meeting times/days for verbal sessions. Three very active and invested players currently! Unfortunately our fourth had to drop due to a change in their availability for a PBP with a new job! Join me for a prologue chapter for your character and join the party as they continue on their adventure to, maybe, aid the town of Forste and explore the Wildeshade Woods!

Preparing for the session
Never played D&D? A veteran of many games? Never heard of Play By Post? Doesn't Matter! Just make sure to take the link and follow it to the Discord Channel. You'll be assigned the role of Armer Stolte Applicant until you fill in an application! Here's what YOU need : 1. A computer OR Mobile Phone. They need to be able to access Discord! 2. Good Internet 3. NO headset needed! 4. A Discord account - FREE 5. A Roll20 account - FREE (Optional) Lastly. You should prepare to use your imagination to create AWESOME fun! Creativity is rewarded and can really make for fun memories!
What Dungeon Doug brings to the table
I will provide you with an in-depth roleplaying and D&D experience through the week via the Discord channel & Roll20 Compendium/Game availability. The discord channel is a safe-place and all players are respected and able to be comfortable. This well-organized PBP game will be available at all times of the day on Discord. Compendium Access to all rule-books I own over on Roll20 will be available via the Roll20 Game which will be created to coincide with this game. You may access your character sheet remotely using the Roll20 App (if you choose to create your character in Roll20 that is). All Characters will have artwork generated for them by me to your specifications. Key encounters and regions will have maps created by me using Inkarnate. They will be posted into the Discord Channel under a thread appropriately named. The number one rule and goal of this game is to ensure that everyone has FUN! So I will ensure you are able to have fun!

How Dungeon Doug creates a safe table
D&D 5e is a team-based story-telling game with a lot of improvisation involved. Therefore, it is impossible to list ALL themes that may surface. However, within this game you should anticipate the following on a relatively consistent basis: - Fantasy violence with mild to moderate description of gore (PG-13/lite R), Mild Language. All players are expected to fill in an "Application to the Guild" over on the discord as well as to read all rules as posted on the Discord! Gameplay will utilize some optional rules. Major additions are: Heliana's Guide to Monsters version of Harvesting, Crafting, and Tracking and Strongholds & Followers rules on Strongholds. There are some minor optional rules that will be discussed in the Session Zero thread on Discord! Music in game is credited to Will Savino, commercial usage approved. A playlist of "Game Interludes" will be playing on loop in the Roll20 game.
