About the adventure
Dare to explore the very foundational roots of 5e! The very first properly published adventure is dear to me. This is especially true because everyone seems to hate it so much - all the reviews online for the most part are scathing and initially I viewed this as a challenge to modify it until it was awesome. After running it and completing it a couple of times, I firmly stand by the notion that it's one of my all time favorite adventures ever - it's a classic setting against the most iconic mosnters of D&D history - DRAGONS! The adventure has flaws, sure, but that's why I've painstakingly gone through and improved upon it to accommodate all of the new rules, stat blocks, lore dumps and gameplay styles of modern tables. I know it like the back of my hand - I've kept all the good bits, and made the bad bits better either by iterating upon them with my experience as a DM running homebrew campaigns in original worlds. I love the Frog-Otter (not a typo!) Realms setting though, and I aim to deliver justice upon it with lots of whacky, interesting, imaginative and very possibly hilarious trudges through the big events of the book, accompanied, of course, by the severity of the stakes at hand. Here's a little preamble for Tyranny of Dragons: 'After the Spellplague, the world shudders in anticipation for the next disaster to be felt throughout the land. Faerun, as hardy as it is, still recovers from the wounds upon her body and its people have not forgotten. Many keep a watchful eye and are wary of the next threat. Life goes on, however - cities are rebuilt and a semblance of life has returned to the continent in the meantime, despite evil forces stirring to see it all crumble to the ground. One such force lies in wait, hidden in the shadows, ready to strike when the best opportunity reveals itself. You are traveling as wandering adventurers, gathered on this day to see a Baldurian merchant, Elior, to a town located in the Sword Coasts' Greenfields. Greenest, is seemingly a small settlement at first, but Elior assures you it is anything but. The rural village, with its paltry keep, hides in plain sight as an incredibly popular trade center for all kinds of goods, thriving in its relationship with both Elturel and Baldur's Gate. The two major powers in the Coast, who just sought a pact of non-aggression after a great many conflicts between them, rely on the town's strategic positioning as bridge that facilitates the flow of goods. Arriving at the town, you settle in the nearest inn, dubbed the March Hare. You rest with Elior as he promises you payment in the morn for your services. Next you wake, a deafening, guttural roar raging against your ears, and only static follows as you see lightning rain down from the skies, smiting the March Hare and anyone in it. You hear cries for help amidst the rubble and struggle to get to your feet. Someone needs help. Will you help them?' And that's it! See you soon!

About me
Howdys and Salutations! I've been playing D&D since the death throes of 3.5, skipped 4th entirely after a break and settled right nicely in the DM chair for 5e ever since Tyranny of Dragons dropped. I've ran and finished multiple online and in-person campaigns, often ending around tier 3 play (level 14). To get a good picture of what my games look like, imagine fun as a core concept — that's me! All I do is in the name of the collective fun for the whole table. I view TTRPGS in essence as an exercise to break out from constrained systems to do ridiculous stuff like, oh, I dunno, befriending the green dragon in Thundertree through carefully and tactfully putting the cursed helm of opposite alignment on it — he became a real softie after that! One rule I always abide by - mistakes, of any kind, are an opportunity to be creative and to do something fun and often hilarious. You regret your frail level 1 PC ran confidently into a pack of goblins, rolling poorly on that persuasion check? No problem. This does not mean death. Well, not necessarily anyway. It might, but it might also be another opportunity to pitch them that lucrative moonshine business you've been going on and on about lately. I wouldn't blame you, it's a neat idea. Anyways, happy to share the wonders of RPGs with you and create lasting memories that'll hopefully be sung about for years to come. Toodly-Doodly! (It's 'see you soon' in goblin, I promise.)

Creating your character
Have a character concept in mind beforehand - no holds barred as far as official rules are concerned. Any and all source books are welcome here. I might not be intimately familiar with ALL of them, but I'll make sure to work with you to catch us both on all the little details. As mentioned before, the backstory hooks are generated by random tables for this adventure, so keep that in mind. This usually doesn't mean too much and you shouldn't feel restricted. It's just a way to tie your character to what's happening no matter what.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A good microphone and access to good internet are much preferred. You will be invited to a discord server and be given a role specifically designed for your adventure.
What Tomas B brings to the table
I will provide custom animated Tokens for your characters based on your best descriptions and, of course, the character art that you send over. These will be used to represent your characters in Foundry VTT.

How Tomas B creates a safe table
We start at Level 1 and the goal is to be as accommodating as possible to any level of experience. I want everything from your character creation, backstories and potential first combat interactions to be as fluid as possible! Expect level 2 at the end of the first session, and level 3 soon after. The start of the adventure is rough and, as such, it has to be fairly rewarding for our newly green recruits, fresh off the Adventurer's League. The game, as a traditional D&D adventure, provides equal opportunities for Exploration, Roleplay and Combat. Some parts of the module are Combat heavy, but I am always open to resolving conflicts through Roleplay. You are rewarded for resolving encounters, not necessarily killing everything evil you see - although that IS always an option. Small Disclaimer here: There is a mechanic regarding backstories in this game that I always explore. We roll on some tables in secret to declare some hooks, and then you write to your hearts content! This ensures that, whatever personal detail you might want to explore about your character, it'll be included in the story no matter what. Speak soon!
