Players say this GM is great at:
Creativity
Inclusive
Storytelling
Eric is a well-prepared GM. He is very good at bringing non-player characters to life and making you feel invested in their stories as much as your own. He even sang as the bard to retell tales of our adventures! Our player group is made up of veteran and new players. He demonstrated a great deal of knowledge in teaching the new players about rules and possibilities. He was able to walk us through how to use the online tools (D&D Beyond and Roll20) as well. Patience of a saint!
Where to start? Eric, has been very easy going and great at telling the story of our campaign. Between the great use of visuals and background music, to his voices and roleplay, our group is having an absolute blast with his GMing and I will likely try another campaign of his when this one is done or if my work schedule will allow me to fit another night of his.
Eric is such a great DM! He's very empathetic to all the players and makes them feel comfortable in the game. Each session is immersive and well prepared, but he also adapts super quickly to the chaos of, well, a bunch of chaotic PCs :D If I had more time I'd sign up for a game with him every day of the week!
Updated 5/20/23 I’ve been playing with Eric every week for almost 2 years at this point. To say that Thursday nights are my favorite night of the week is an understatement. I spend all week waiting for Thursday, thinking about hanging out with my friends and going on adventures. We’ve played a myriad of systems, settings and types of games with Eric, and without fail he’s ready with something to challenge and delight us. It’s much less ‘here’s where we are and were we are going’ and much more ‘come on in and play with me and all these amazing toys I have ready for you. Eric has built such a wonderful community in our game, but also across all his other games. He’s kind, exceedingly creative and thinks incredibly on his feet and this frees seasoned players as well as beginners up to play a character and switch off the real world for a few hours. Eric also brings such incredible value to every session. He’s well stocked with evocative imagery, music, and most importantly can create the most immersive theater of the mind. As a long time player I’m still consistently surprised with something he’s brought our group into. Here’s to two more years! Previous Review: Eric builds a really immersive experience coupled with a complete willingness to meet his players where they are makes a truly fun game night. He guides us in our quests but really encourages us to be creative and have fun and has blended in super well with our group.
I've played in multiple campaigns now with Eric, and I would be hard pressed to find another GM with the balance of wonderful rule knowledge, fantastic story telling, and the understanding when to allow for player creativity than him. Eric is inclusive and kind, and he is always happy to help whether you're an experienced player, or someone new to the hobby. Not to mention Eric has cultivated one of the most welcoming, friendly communities in the space. 10/10 would recommend to players of any experience level.
Character creation
Creating your character
Characters start at level 3, using point buy or standard array. No rolled stats. Character creation should be emphasized not to create invincible, video-game-type characters that always succeed and can never die - but to play something fun and fun to play WITH. You can come to the table with a character concept, pick a pregenerated characer, or if you like I will help you create a character that will be fun to play. We can work together to pick race, class, and abilities to match your playstyle and preferences in session zero or one-on-one meetings. You can create your character using nearly anything from: WOTC published content with the world of Eberron in mind, some exclusions like space-faring folk and others will apply.
Monday night Eberron! Play with an ESTABLISHED and STABLE group who love the roll dice and role play!

How Eric V - House VanSingel creates a safe table
🗣️Fights Matter, and Roleplay is emphasized: There will be plenty of combat, but note that my games generally feature a high level of roleplay between party members and NPCs of the world. Roleplay and dramatic storytelling are emphasized. Make a character that is both fun to play and play with. 🔋We promote a positive and safe place to play together: I aim for an immersive experience where players work together and look forward to playing with each other each week. Do what your character would do, but never at the expense of others. To be blunt, if you are a jerk, gatekeeper, bigot, cheater, are over competitive, power game to the point of rules exploits, hog the spotlight, or a bad sport, this is not the table for you. PVP is not allowed. No Evil Characters. Respect narrative consent and be a team player. Problematic play of any kind is not tolerated. 🦺Content Warning and Safety: This adventure may feature themes of body horror, gore, physical restraint, murder, death, undeath, decay, sacrifice, rats, crawling insects, drowning, and other terrible things. A freat deal of this adventure deals with water, and being underwater. If this is a concern for you, a different adventure will be more appropriate. You play epic heroes fighting against terrible forces. The campaign does not contain explicit sexuality, sexual assault, systemic racism, homophobia, or transphobia. Allegories of racial prejudice, and scenes encountering enslaved people are minimilized or not featured at all. Safety system based on the TTRPG Safety Toolkit by Kienna Shaw and Lauren Bryant-Monk utilizing Red X, Yellow N, and Green O cards built into the VTT. 📐Expect a game that follows Rules as Written (RAW), but note flavor is free. Some of the house rules you should know about: Healing potions took as a bonus action No flanking for advantage Any PC can use scrolls with an Arcana check If you are playing a class with summons, keep a maximum of four (4) Luck system replaces inspiration (from Black Flag packet 2) ⛔Zero tolerance policy for harassment or discrimination based on race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, etc. DM reserves the right to remove a player immediately if violating any of the ground rules.
