About the adventure

Enter the world of Exandria! You will find yourselves on the continent of Tal'Dorei- home of the cities of Whitestone and Emon, the secretive elven city of Syngorn, and of course the Legendary Vox Machina themselves. Will you join the Clasp and prowl the underbelly of the continent for easy prey, assist the Ashari of Zephrah in defending the plane from elemental threats, or try to solve the lingering effects of the occupation by the Chroma Conclave? Whatever you choose, wherever the fates send you, I will be your guide. This campaign will be starting in 835 PD, the events of campaign 1 have concluded many years prior, and the events of campaign 2 diverge from game canon at around this time. Open to all players no matter how experienced.

About me

My name's Aaron, hailing from the county of Lincolnshire, UK. I have played tabletop games for 11 years through family, friends and previous paid gigs for DMing. From D&D to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay or homebrew custom games I have experienced and run many instances of long-form campaigns, one-shot sessions and roleplay scenarios. I first discovered my capability as a DM, homebrewer and creative within the tabletop scene from a long-running campaign which started during my time in college, this one campaign has lasted almost 4 years (and counting) alongside multiple other campaigns with other scenarios, storylines and mechanics (using a host of homebrewed content like a set of Survival rules, a settlement building system, an attempt to fix martial-caster disparity in combat, and a lot of monsters, spells, feats, items, races, and subclasses. And that's without mentioning all of the third-party content).

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created at level 1, almost all official content will be allowed, as will a large amount of homebrew and third-party content. For this, players will be invited to make a character on D&D Beyond, and we will go through the whole process in Session 0.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a mic, a stable internet connection, and access to a computer and web browser. It is preferred that players are familiar with the basic rules, but need not know the minutiae of every bit of content. Only Discord and a web browser are needed, 2 tabs open on the web browser, one for D&D Beyond, one for Roll20. Or use D&D Beyond on your phone, that works too. I imagine that most people joining will be familiar with Exandria and Critical Role, but understand that I am not Matt Mercer and you are not his players. This is my version of his world, so things are going to be different.

What Aaron brings to the table

Owing to this being an entirely digital game, I will bring my digital content. You'll take home your memories of the game.

Safety

How Aaron creates a safe table

In Session 0 we will go through do's and don'ts, what you don't want to see and what you do, for whatever reason. Also for everyone to get a better idea of each other's personalities. We would also go over the set-up for the campaign, and the lead-in, cover the early parts of character creation, and anything that I can't think of right now. Generally breaks are halfway through the session, 5-15 minutes long, and just for you to stretch your legs, grab a drink and the like. Players can expect varied combat and social encounters with plenty of opportunity for roleplay.
