About the adventure
Come join me in the Underdark where Drow and Duergar maintain power. This setting is ideal for anyone with a rich background in mind, or with a completely blank slate to come explore the depths of the world below the surface. This campaign will begin at level 1 and progress at a reasonable rate via milestones to level 10 or further depending on the players.

About me
I started playing D&D in 2012 as a Dungeon Master. I have developed a special love for the Under Dark and prefer to run campaigns based there. My joy from running games comes from immersive role play with a healthy dose of combat to break up the many character voices. Campaign experiences are at their best when the players and I work together to expand on background stories for me to weave into the story as we go. Creating your character
Ideally characters are created beforehand, this is something I am happy to work with you to create. Creating them in D&D Beyond so they can be part of the campaign will be key. Most of the base D&D Beyond content should be free to begin with and anything beyond a pay wall can be tracked manually on the players end.
Come try to escape the abyss of the Underdark! This campaign will start at level 1 and aims to reach level 10 by the end (or further depending on where the story takes us). There will be a session 0 where we work together to set expectations and set up some context for our story. We will be using Roll20, Discord and DnD Beyond to facilitate our adventure together. If you have any questions about my DM style feel free to read my profile otherwise ask any questions you have beforehand!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Have a microphone and a camera ready to be used through Discord. Combat will be experienced through Roll20 so be ready to use that as well. In session 0 I will send out a technical setup list and check in with everyone trying to set the right expectations before session 0.
What James Swope brings to the table
Bring a character, your favorite physical dice if you have them (digital rolling in dnd beyond or Roll20 are fine too), and open mind and willingness to work with me and your fellow players to build an epic story together!

How James Swope creates a safe table
In session 0 we will go over a few functional basics. We will create together a communication style that works best for the group, and agree how to implement it each session. At a minimum we will have one break each session and a debrief. The rest of the social structure of the game will depend on what we decide together. We will also set up a bit of the story and cover how everyone's paths might have already crossed before we start session 1. Finally, I will set up a bit of a prologue, leaving everyone with a nice cliff hanger to kick things off.
