About the adventure

Homebrew Mini-Campaign. Estimated 3-4 sessions. Captain Cloudbeard is in hot pursuit of you and the other rebel pirates. You’ve just stolen one of his ships, the Song of Fate, along with a great deal of his treasure. And on his wedding day of all days. Amongst the stolen treasure are Cloudbeard's wedding gifts to his bride, three bejeweled bird statuettes. A single bird is worth more than all the other treasure combined, and they gleam with otherworldly beauty. In your service with Cloudbeard you saw first hand how merciless he is to those that cross him. As a powerful meteomancer he brings the storm with his wrath. The pirate lord and his loyalists won't be forgiving if they catch up to your ship. The rebel pirates are led by Izza, who masterminded this whole plan. She has assured her fellow rebels that they just need to reach a small island called Disaster Isle and you’ll be in the clear. However, she’s been cagey about what’s supposed to happen at the island, and she seems to know something about the bird statuettes. Izza doesn’t have the greatest reputation, known as a con artist and huckster, and is in fact nicknamed ‘The Phoenix of the Ocean’ for how many times she’s spectacularly failed and risen back up for another scheme. You may be questioning if you made the right decision to follow Izza and turn on Cloudbeard. Take on the role of a daring scoundrel risking it all for the greatest score of their life in this swashbuckling action-packed exploit!

About me

‘Storytelling through action’ is my approach to a typical game. I focus on mini-campaigns running from 3 to 6 sessions with a contained narrative. However, the campaign stories are always customized to the PCs and guided by the players. The greatest thrill of any campaign is when the characters come to life and steer the story in unexpected directions.

Character creation

Creating your character

Please join the Discord server and read the Table Rules and Character Creation sections. Then message me a brief summary of your character concept for review. I will reach out back to you to discuss any necessary changes, your PCs connections to the world and NPCs, help with the character sheet if needed, and any other relevant story details about your character. PCs will be level 3. Any official races and classes. Create a pirate-themed character that would choose to betray their pirate lord, but will still be cooperative with the party. Come up with a reason for your character to risk everything for this treasure.

Safety

How Keeping Kelsey creates a safe table

Before the first session we will discuss the details of your character over Discord. We may do so through messages or voice call. We will have an approximately 30 minute Session Zero-type discussion at the start of the first session to go over table rules, expectations, and lines and veils. This campaign will largely consist of combat encounters, though with plenty of opportunity within the encounters for roleplaying.
