About the adventure

This game is for new players and experienced players alike! Phandalin is a familiar, and much loved town/setting within the DND multiverse, and it will be fun to explore it again in a new light with adventurous folks! We play on Foundry, and my Phandalin setting is already well developed, so I look forward to seeing the new additions! This campaign will include much extra content in terms of homebrew, but as well, the option to progress to another campaign (such as Tyranny of Dragons, or another). Come and play with me, I'm mostly certain you'll be happy you did, and you won't want to leave! I love to fully immerse my players characters into my world with backstory, background, hook, locations, people, etc. to have it all actually mean something for all of us! Let's play!

About me

I started playing DnD in 1984 or so, but pretty much stopped playing in the mid-90s (“adulting” happened I guess!). Passion for the fantasy genre (as a broad category of interest) never changed however, and over the past few years I’ve found myself back in the DnD world, at first as a player in several campaigns, to wind up being a full-time DM! I have a great passion for DnD, and bring that to the table always!

Incredible DM that works with characters to create amazing story arcs and immerses characters backstories into the world. The more effort you put into creating your own characters the more he works in immersing it. Look forward to each session weekly.

Chris, also known as 'Bink Plank,' is an exceptional Dungeon Master who brings a unique blend of creativity and dedication to every Dungeons & Dragons session. His commitment to crafting a collaborative story is evident in how he meticulously plans each game, ensuring a rich and engaging experience for all players. (I have been playing in Chris's campaign for 5+ mos.) One of Chris's standout qualities is his incredible ability to improvise. Whether it's through a well-timed sound effect, an imaginative visual aid, or a sudden shift in voice, he brings the game's world to life in the most unexpected ways. His talent for voice acting is particularly noteworthy; interacting with his NPCs feels like conversing with genuinely distinct characters. In summary, if you're looking for a DM who will invest in your character's journey and contribute to an unforgettable campaign experience, Chris 'Bink Plank' is a fantastic choice.

Christian has been wonderful DM and I’ve enjoyed spending time with him. He is always fair and even keeled, while also being fun and spontaneous. He adds tons of interesting details to his campaigns, fleshing out the stock offerings. He likes to bring in the lore to help deepen and tie in the storytelling. Highly recommended!

I came back to DnD thank to Critical Roll. If you are too, understand your game will never be like theirs and holding DM's to the standard of Matt Mercer is not realistic. That said, I have done a handful of one shots in Start Playing and now this campaign with Bink. The variety of DM's, their knowledge and styles are wide and varied. I'm glad I landed on Bink for my first ever campaign DM. He's very easy to work with and truly loves and knows the lore. He's very open when it comes to allowing source material and homebrew. You just gotta talk to him. This does not mean he's just a "YES" man. He will say no if what you want breaks the game or what he has in store. But I don't think there's any need to worry. I saw a video talking about the different types of DM's, and I think Bink is close to being the Nick Fury type, trying to build up his super powered team of Avengers. He want's you to feel powerful, but he does also want you to earn it. The opening of Tyranny of Dragons is rough, and he did not hold back. We truly had to work to stay alive, and I love it. I am looking forward to playing my first full campaign with Bink, and likely at least one more. Afterwards I may play the field again for some variety. But if you are new or old hat, Bink can hold it down for you. Just know that he does utilize Foundry VTT quite a bit (I love it). The only reason to not go Bink, is if you want pure theater of the mind. Otherwise, give the guy a try. There's a big chance he'll be your next DM too. This review only lets you choose 3 descriptors. I picked what I see as the top 3, but he pretty much covers the other options as well. Rule of Cool/as Intended/as Written. He takes every moment as individuals and decides what's best then. He's safe if you have boundaries. He truly does build a world and sets the mood with music and sound FX. Provides players with sound FX via Foundry items as well. This has been fun to mess with. Just sign up with him already, geez!

Bink is a great DM, the world he has created feels very much alive. The story is very much in the players hands. I once found a portal to one of the 9 hells, and wanted to see what that was about and ended up spending the last half of the session getting out of there lol. Thank god for self banishment, but I feel like I could of got more information while there if I played my cards right. Most games the DM will just say you died, roll a backup at that point. I liked that little solo adventure even though I was scared out of my mind being in the hells lol. Anyway I am rambling, please give Bink a shot for your next campaign, he really takes time and plans for each session and you can see how much effort he has put into his D&D world.

Excellent story teller and encourages you to be creative. He does an excellent job with tying your characters together and encourages roleplay. Combat has been fun exciting and challenging making the victories even better when the party overcomes the odds!

Character creation
Creating your character

Sheets will be completed on DND beyond, and maintained there as a "master copy" (somewhat), which will be imported into Foundry. We can create them over discord chat text, voice, however you like.. just send me a message and we will get started.

The current party

It will be every Wednesday night 10pm EST - this campaign is a lot of fun, with a great group, they're close to finish -- the plan will be to continue on with these characters in a higher level campaign (assuming they survive!). Currently at 5/6 players, space for one more! Level 9 -- Group has been together a long time, and would welcome a new player who will engage with them! Don't be afraid, join ;-)

Safety
How Bink Plank / Chorash aka DM Christian the Distantly in Line creates a safe table

Disclaimer: As far as content goes, anything goes; I do not get offended easily, my only personal "no go" is players committing sexual violence against each other or the NPCs, but beyond that, anything goes. NPCs can be really bad, racists, murderers... anything. I try to provide as much realism within a high fantasy setting as possible. So, while it is true that anything goes - it is only actually to a point you identify. I will 100% remove any content, no questions asked, at any player's request. I provide advance warning NOW that unless you identify a potential trigger or issue in advance, then I assume you have no problem with ANY content. It can get very bloody in this world, its dangerous out there! I don't do stars and wishes, instead, I prefer you send me private feedback. I have an open door policy and while I like to provide a highly dangerous/scary playing environment, I want my players to feel totally safe themselves. I'm a former social worker, and believe it or not I still care about people :-) Come play with me, you'll be scared, your character might die (re-roll!), but you'll be safe (and I'm certain you will have fun!).
