About the adventure

Welcome to Baulder's Gate. A veritable nest of rats and vipers alike, clinging to the rocky slopes that line the Chiondathan River. From high up on the perches of the Upper City, local nobles-- known as Patriars-- watch the city with contempt as the future is built all around them. In this year of 1623 DR, the Sword Coast has made great strides in the fields of Artificery, steam technology, and Magitek. While some have embraced the change and adapted to the new world, others still cling to the older traditions and magick. While the world moves forward, there are shadow agents working to rebuild and reestablish what has been lost to time. Relics of the old world, and the old gods, still exist. Buried under old ruins and the skeletons of those who came before. And now, they're being resurfaced.

About me

I first learned about TTRPGs some time after D&D 3.5e had come out, so I had a lot of catching up to do at the time. However, as soon as I was exposed to the possibilities, the dam was broken and I was hooked. I've been in and out of groups since then, but when the pandemic began, I had nothing but extra time to play tabletop games. I started homebrewing my own content, running my own games, and making my own maps. I'm not satisfied with playing tropes or going with what's easiest. As a fantasy fiction writer, I want to tell stories that are engaging, breathtaking, and continue to surprise you at every turn. I like to keep things cohesive, but always allow my players to make their own choices, and face the consequences that may or may not follow. The story we tell together should feel like the result of the choices you make together. That's the game I want to create for you. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to the style and length of the adventure you'd like to play. From intense one-shots to elaborate campaigns spanning 2 years. I can run official modules, or invite your group to the setting of my world, Inaelia.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players are free to use any options available in official source books, excluding Wildemount, Ravnica, and Eberron. Characters will begin at level 1, and should use Point buy to determine scores. Racial bonuses will be replaced with a flat 3 points to distribute to any scores as players see fit, with no one score receiving more than 2 points from this bonus. In addition, characters will receive a free feat at level 1, and their choice of a magic item of uncommon rarity or lower that does not require attunement. If there are any further questions, players are free to ask me in discord.

Safety

How RollPlayer1 creates a safe table

An X-card button will be available in the VTT for players to use anonymously. Once used, the game will stop and that player can message me directly so we may resolve the issue. This is an LGBTQ+-friendly game, and I have a zero-tolerance policy for hate speech of any kind. Whether that be against gender, sexual orientation, race, nationality, and/or creed. Nor will sexual assault be tolerated, whether simulated or as a joke. I want everyone who comes to my table to feel welcomed and safe. Communication is important, and you are always welcome to message me with any questions you may have or to bring up any concerns about the details of the campaign. If something makes you uncomfortable, please signal me right away and we will either retcon, skip, and/or avoid the issue.
