About the adventure

As members of the SSC Scientific Sampling & Collections team, it's your duty to collect soil, water, and biomatter samples for SSC researchers. It seems like an easy change of pace from mercenary work... right up until those researchers start asking you for kaiju parts. Dangerous megafauna with strange powers have appeared out of nowhere on the colony of Fals IX, and the Smith-Shimani Corpro is sending you in for answers. 🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬 Lancer: Science Team starts at LL2, with players being mech pilots stationed on a colony planet that is now threatened by mysterious kaiju. You will be fighting these giant monsters, along with mechs from other factions who want to capture or eradicate the kaiju for their own purposes. You answer to the SSC Science Division, who want to learn as much about the kaiju as possible and need your help to observe them in the field and collect horns, claws, scales, droppings, and even live specimens for research.

About me

Hello! Over the last decade I've been running tabletop games in bars, at conventions, in the lounge rooms of all of my friends, and online. I was first introduced to D&D by a family friend whose campaign had been running for over 20 years, and seeing the incredible world they'd all created inspired me to start running games of my own as soon as I could. I love how collaborative and flexible TTRPGs can be, and how two groups can surprise you with how differently they approach the same adventure. I like to run games with a strong hook or core concept. Here are some of my favourite kinds of campaigns to run: - low stakes cozy fantasy (shopkeeper adventures, townbuilder campaigns, etc.) - dramatic and Gothic dark fantasy (especially with undead and monstrous PCs) - high concept adventures ("X meets Y", classic action movie concepts, parody and weirdness) I'm based in the tropics of northern Australia, but I run games at all hours of the day. If you'd like to hear some of my work, I have been the GM for most seasons of the Real Fantasy Encounters actual play podcast at https://realfantasyencounters.com/. I have extensive GM experience with games like Lancer, Masks, D&D and Pathfinder, Blades In The Dark, Spire/Heart, and Mork Borg, as well as my own Gothic horror medical drama TTRPG Bloodclotte and my isekai themed fantasy comedy game This World Summons Too Many Heroes!!

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will start at LL2, creating their characters in COMP/CON. From there, I can import characters directly into Foundry. I encourage players to make their characters beforehand, reaching out to me if they need assistance.

Fortnightly game, currently at LL7

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need to have an account on Discord and a decent quality microphone. Maps and rolls will be handled through FoundryVTT, which you can open through your web browser.

What Duffo brings to the table

I will be hosting the game through FoundryVTT, using several modules to enhance the game with tokens, maps and other visuals. I create isometric maps using photo editing software for use in the game. Players will also receive an invite to a Discord server with helpful material for getting started.

Safety

How Duffo creates a safe table

Lancer: Science Team features several kaiju that might take reptilian, insectoid or arachnid form. If you do have any strong animal phobias, please do mention it to the GM. Session Zero shouldn't take more than half of the first session, and mostly acts as onboarding to make sure everyone has their characters sorted out and their expectations in line. If you are completely new to Lancer, let me know and I can run through the basics with you beforehand. I will send out a Google Form to players with Lines & Veils and some introductory questions.
