How to prepare

✅ Join the Discord server and review the #Start-here channel ✅ Ensure you have access to an internet connected laptop or PC (not a tablet) with a keyboard & mouse (not a touchpad). ✅ Download Google Chrome (or ensure it is updated if you already use it) and use it as your browser while in-session as this is the preferred browser for Foundry VTT. ✅ Have a mic & webcam ready to rock (These are required in order to help promote a relational tabletop environment). Players will NOT need: ❌ Their own dice ❌ Books or character sheets ❌ Pre-existing knowledge of the game All other prep will be completed during session 0.

What I provide

📕 Character Options! All D&D 5e sourcebooks and character options relevant to the setting will be available to you through D&D Beyond's content sharing system once you join the campaign. This game uses the 2024 version of the fifth edition ruleset. ⚒️ Foundry VTT I will have a Foundry VTT server dedicated to this campaign with sophisticated mods and extra features. Hosted on The Forge. 🎤 Discord Access You will get permanent access to my Discord community as well as a private set of channels for the party to role play in between sessions (Participation in these role-play channels is optional & rewards you with coins to purchase perks for the party!) Perks available for purchase over time include: 🪙 Discounts at in-game vendors ☠️ Bolstered death saves 🫀 Better chances of higher hit die rolls upon level-ups 💯 Extra session XP bonuses 🤩 Party-wide inspiration 🎧 Audio Mood music, ambience, and environmental sounds will be used to dial up the immersion to 11. 🗣️ Voice Acting I will use voices & accents for most (if not all) NPCs and villains. 🗺️ Epic Maps & Visuals I add dynamic lighting, multi-level functionality, and animations to my battlemaps to further amp up the production value. 🫂Community & Camera Use I strive to foster a welcoming and friendly community who support each other and keep the stoke high. In order to help foster that for each party, I do require webcams to be on during sessions. If privacy or technical know-how are barriers, I can help you get set up and/or add a background blur to limit the camera view to just you and not your physical space - just ask! 💵 Proficiency Bonus Discount Deduct your character's proficiency bonus from all session charges (including one-shots) while actively playing in a long-form campaign!

Gameplay details

Player safety & comfort are crucial to a fun TTRPG environment. My approach to this concept is as follows: 📜Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist - All players can optionally complete an online form before our first session that helps identify topics that are triggering for them. These topics will be presented to the group during our first session in an anonymous format in order to define which topics the group & DM should avoid. 0️⃣Session 0 - The first group meeting is called a Session 0. This is a chance to get to know each other, collaborate on character creation, delve into the priming lore of the world, and set expectations for both the players and the DM before the dice start to roll. ⏱️Breaks - I give one dedicated 10min break roughly halfway through each session. This is a great time to grab a snack or a drink, take a bio break, stretch your legs, or regroup. Individual breaks are also welcome whenever you need one without question. 🗣️Voice acting - I run a judgement-free game when it comes to accents and voice acting. While I will be voice acting (to various degrees of success 🤣) for nearly all NPCs, you are not required to do so unless you really want to! Either way - judgement free. 🛡️ Gritty Antihero Vibe - I encourage players to build characters that fit the campaign rather than bring an eccentric goofball character they cooked up and try to force it to fit. This helps give the party unity and avoids pain points down the road.

How will character creation work

Character creation will be handled during our first meeting (Session 0), but players should feel free to start brainstorming character ideas before that if desired. We will be using the 2024 ruleset. Important: Join my Discord community & select the game you registered for during onboarding. All information related to character creation can be found in the #Start-here channel in your campaign's private Discord channels, including a link to the D&D Beyond content sharing campaign with expanded character options! Characters will start at level 4, will use either the point buy system or 4d6 (drop the lowest) for ability scores - whichever you like, and will roll HP manually. I will work with you to outfit our character with gold/ magic items. All rolls must be witness by me or I will ask you to reroll them! All official core character options are allowed. 3rd party and/or partnered content will be allowed case by case upon request.
