About the adventure
Barovia is a land full of memorable destinations. From the historic ruins of Argynvostholt to the idyllic tundra of Mount Ghakis. A lot of people in Barovia see one or two of Barovia's many sights before being killed by our noble and illustrious Count. Truth be told, Strahd would love for you to get your fill of the land before he disposes of you. Come to Barovia to create memories that will last a lifetime! ...a short, bleak lifetime. "West Marches" is a format of TTRPG game where the players are given more freedom to choose what locations and quests they engage with. If you are interested in gothic horror and sandbox worlds, this is the game for you!

About me
Hello! My name is Jamie. I began playing D&D just over a decade ago, but I've been playing and DM'ing consistently for four years. I'm also comfortable with the Powered by the Apocalypse system, but I don't get to play them as much. I'm very familiar with D&D 5e. I have run published adventure modules, if you have one you're excited about, but I also love running custom, homebrew games. I look forward to playing with you!

Creating your character
We can either make them ahead of time, or during session 0, depending on what level of guidance you'd like. Characters for this campaign will start at level 5. I prefer to keep everyone's characters on D&D Beyond because I find it to be the easiest tool to keep track of everything, share homebrew, etc.
My intention is to have this group meet the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, but feel free to request another time!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a mic compatible with Discord, and a browser that will run Roll20. For online games, I prefer that we roll digital dice just to make sure everything is fair, but you are welcome to use D&D Beyond or Roll20, and I will have a dice bot in the Discord Server.
What Jamie brings to the table
Most of this campaign will be based on the Cure of Strahd module, but I will alter some things to align with player characters' backstories, as well as including some older Ravenloft content to round out the world.

How Jamie creates a safe table
My overarching ethos as a GM is that the game should be driven by the actions and decisions of the players. I encourage my players to come up with creative solutions, especially things I haven't thought of or accounted for. With a game like D&D, I do try to include at least a little bit of combat in each session, but I won't force it if a scenario evolves away from it. At Session 0, I always send out a consent checklist, which I consult throughout my session prep. I also make sure that information, while anonymous, is available to the other players, so that we all understand each other's boundaries. I have included the content warnings that I feel are most likely to arise, but most things are negotiable.
