Creating your character

Characters will advance from level 1 to level 4 throughout the adventure. At session 0 for new players (or veterans who have never used dndbeyond before), we'll cover signing up and using dndbeyond.com, as well as crafting your first character. For veteran players, we'll go through character creation, and talk about any non-core dnd content, optional class features, or origin customizations you'd like to try. We'll also cover how to use my VTT of choice, Owlbear Rodeo.

Preparing for the session

At session 0, we can decide if we want to use cameras or not, but it's not going to be a necessity. You will, however, need to have a microphone, since playing via text would slow the flow of the game to a crawl. All rules and mechanics can be explained as we go, and for those who have never used dndbeyond.com before, I'll walk you through signing up for an account, and creating your first character. All dice rolls will be made digitally from the dndbeyond interface (unless you have and prefer using physical dice).

What BJ brings to the table

All maps will be provided via Owlbear Rodeo, and I can provide tokens for your characters if you don't wish to provide one yourself. Advanced options for character creation will be shared via my dndbeyond.com master tier subscription.

How BJ creates a safe table

For new players, session 0 will be the time to build your first D&D character and learn the basics to get started. For veteran players, this session can be used to flesh out a characters backstory more, or acquaint yourself with other characters to work on a collective narrative to start the adventure. Death and violence are inherent when there's combat involved, but we can discuss the level of description you would want in session 0. We would also utilize discord chat to display X, N, & O's for any players if they start to get uncomfortable with the content.
