About the adventure
This is an epic and horrifying venture out into the city and world of Drakkenheim. 11 years ago, a strange meteor hit the city of Drakkenheim, the crown jewel and capitol of the nation of Westmar. The city became ravaged by a substance known only as the Haze, which mutated any living thing within its boundary. That said, all of the riches and treasure lay in wait within as well... With five factions vying for power over the city, hundreds of monsters, and countless treasures to be found, gear up and head into a triumphant return, or a glorious...or maybe not so glorious...death within the city. Welcome to Drakkenheim!

About me
Hello, fellow adventurers and dream-weavers! I'm The Daily Dungeon Master, also known as Chex on Discord. With over 27 years of dungeon mastering, I've journeyed through every edition from the nostalgic AD&D to the dynamic realms of 5th edition—and yes, even that notorious 4th edition! I've also run Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest, and lots of the 3rd Edition adjacent games (d20 Modern, Future, Apocalypse, etc...). Why choose me as your DM? It's simple: dungeon mastering isn't just a hobby for me; it's a deep-seated passion. Here’s what you can expect when you join one of my tables: -Tailored Adventures: Your play style sets the tone. Love epic battles? Prepare for heart-pounding combat. Adore intricate mysteries? Puzzles and intrigue await. Crave deep character development? Watch your backstory become the backbone of our campaign. -Inclusive World-Building: I strive to create inclusive environments that welcome and celebrate diversity, both in characters and players new and veteran alike. Everyone has a place at my table. -Interactive Sessions: Expect sessions where your choices truly matter. I use dynamic storytelling techniques to make the world react to your decisions, creating a living story where everyone contributes to the narrative’s unfolding. -Community and Connection: I believe in building not just a campaign, but a community. Our adventures are spaces where friendships are forged in the fires of dragon's breath and the quiet moments between battles. Spotlight on a Recent Adventure: In my Sunday Selsuria campaign (an open-world homebrew campaign I wrote and designed myself, originally designed as a West Marches-style campaign but adapted for a single party to play!), a full two-thirds of the party was captured by hobgoblin slavers only for the wizard to escape with crafty use of his remaining spell slots (they were captured mid-long rest), linking up with the uncaptured party members, and performing a daring rescue of the party and others that had previously been captured. Afterwards, while escorting the whole group back to the town, they defeated an encampment of cultists along the way. The cultists worshipped some entity that was not within the known pantheon of deities, and is just known to them as "He Who Whispers in the Dark," an entity worshipped by strange and usually evil creatures throughout the area. Who is this entity? Feel free to join us and find out as we recently had a slot open up due to life events causing a change in schedule for a player (https://startplaying.games/adventure/cm6v1o087000m1ox4k304omf4). Join the Adventure: Are you ready to explore new worlds and test your mettle against formidable foes? I'm looking for heroes like you to bring our next story to life. Message me now to reserve your spot in my upcoming campaigns or to discuss your ideal adventure. Or, join me on Fridays and Thursdays for my “Learn to Play” games (RuneQuest and Call of Cthulhu)! Creating your character
You should have the following: 1) dndbeyond account with a character idea (I'm big on playing what you want, not what you think the party needs!) or make the request to have me create a character sheet in Roll20 for you to work with. 2) Firefox or Chrome or other compatible browser with the Beyond20 browser extension turned on. 3) A Discord account 4) A (free) Roll20 account 5) Access to Drakkenheim materials helpful but not needed. All links will be provided upon joining. Also, keep in mind, character creation will look like this: -Abilities will be rolled using two sets of 4d6 - drop the lowest -Gear will be standard (do not roll for gold). Also, add 1 regular potion of healing. -Additional character options/backgrounds/etc... will be available, so you will need homebrew turned on so you can get access to them.
The Game Firstly, don't be intimidated by how far along in the campaign we are!! The ability do drop someone new in is easy and new players will be able to pick up on what's going on very quickly. The Party has recently stopped and Emerald Claw enclave from opening a portal from Dohlur...or did they...? Now they are heading to New Cyre to recruit more people into an army to take on the infamous Lord of Blades and his fanatical warforged followers. The Oracle of War adventure campaign is a campaign that extends from levels 1-20, with the party currently being level 17. So if you've ever wanted to to play in a higher tiered game, this is your chance! We recently lost a player to life events and are looking to renew our numbers! About the GM I've been a GM/DM for over 28 years (I'm 43), and have run a multitude of games across several game systems for a large number of groups. My DM style varies based on the needs and wants of my players: like combat? You've got it! Want roleplay? Done! Want a nice mix of everything? I'm your guy! I run with few hombrew rules (only stuff to make things easier on the players!). I allow most WotC products to be used in my games (Tasha's, Xanathar's, etc...), and will even allow homebrew with prior approval. My goal is to say "yes!" whenever possible. I'm a fair adjudicator of the rules and I'm quick to think on my feet! My game reviews can be found here as a form of references: https://startplaying.games/gm/thedailydm (I've run several games on this platform, but have had multiple reviews for other games I've run posted there by players of games I've hosted via just Roll20). I've hosted over 1000 hours worth of games on Roll20, and 1000s of hours in games in-person. Also, of course, feel free to check out my Roll20 profile! On Discord, I'm chex0152! What I Bring to The Table (both literally and figuratively!) -An professional, fair, and (most of all) fun experience, from an experienced and professional DM -Beautiful and professional maps complete with dynamic lighting and ambient music when appropriate -An exciting narrative story where you, the players, are the center of attention -No large groups! My max is 6 and my minimum is 3; I tailor the experience to the number of players at the table! We currently have 5. -Play what you want, not necessarily what the party "needs," I also tailor the experience based on the player characters! Game Details -Characters can be on Roll20 or dndbeyond.com (as long as you are using some sort of browser extension, like Beyond20 to have rolls show up in Roll20) -Character creation guidelines: 17th level, standard array or point buy, most WotC products allowed for races, classes, and backgrounds (homebrew allowed with prior approval), standard gear, no evil characters; magic items will be given out by DM upon character creation -Gameplay is on Roll20, with voice chat being on Discord (link to be given upon entry to game!) -New players and LBGTQ friendly! -Game will is a long-running campaign, from level 1-20!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be playing on Roll20 and using Discord for voice chat. Dice rolls will be digital on either Roll20, or via a browser extension like Beyond20. As such, a mic will be needed. Having a knowledge of the Drakkenheim campaign setting is nice, but not necessary. Discord link and Roll20 links will be provided once you PM me here. I'll also need a picture or a token for your character.
What The Daily DM/Chex brings to the table
I will provide all professional VTT maps with lighting and light background music (where and when appropriate). Any handouts will be provided via Roll20. I am big on doing voices for characters and NPCs and even some monsters (I've been told my kobold and goblin are particularly funny). Very big on Rule of Cool, and I'm the kind of DM that likes to say "Yes!" as much as possible. It is recommended, although not required, to own Dungeons of Drakkenheim on dndbeyond.com, particularly if you are playing a caster, as there is content there that is only found with that resource. Of course, if you cannot get dndbeyond.com to work, I can make a character sheet for you up on Roll20 if that's your jam.
