About the adventure

The threat of war looms over Quan Ti. The Emperor's son, Shing, has gone on one of his walk abouts. Time he spends in the nation, away from his father and the palace. Widely considered the greatest warrior and strategic mind in the nation, the Emperor wants his son home to prepare the armies. Can you find him and convince him to come home? You are agents of the Emperor of Quan Ti, the brightest and most prolific inventor in the world. Well... you will be. First you must complete your training. You and your party members have come from all walks of life to take up the highest honor in the country, serving the Emperor. You have been training for 5 years now, your training is almost complete. Rumors speak of shadow organizations working to overthrow your beloved emperor. You've heard whispers of an army that seeks to invade, and has the nation surrounded. An army that has conquered the rest of the continent of Mor-Ruinn. With that, trade for the essential grain from the nation of Wedertin has come to a complete stop. The once prosperous nation of Ronstahdt, Quan Ti's greatest ally, has gone silent. Surrounded by mountains and the sea, Quan Ti has been largely sheltered from the events happening around it... but for how long will these natural defense hold? To top it off, highly decorated Chilun have gone missing. Can you freshly trained group live up to their legendary name? Quan Ti is decades, possible even a full century ahead of the rest of the known world in technological advancements. Because of this, the nation is one of the most prosperous and powerful in the continent. The setting in Quan Ti is steampunk. Guns are a thing, and your characters would be well trained in their use. There is only 1 restriction in character creation: Your character MUST be a monk. Multiclassing is allowed, however monk must make up the lions share of your levels. (i.e. 5 lvls in monk, 4 lvls in barbarian) Because you are Chilun, you have the option to take my gunslinger monk subclass to start. You will also get to choose a Gear tattoo. A living tattoo that levels up as you do, and signifies you as a Chilun. These tattoos amplify your abilities, and give you additional ones to help you fulfill your missions. Harbinger gear (warrior) Dead-eye gear (ranged) Shadow Gear (stealth) and Coil Gear (magic).

About me

Welcome, Adventurer! My name is Josh AKA The Dark Mage, and I'm here to deliver you one hell of a game! I have been DMing virtually on a wonderful discord community for a bit over a year now. After a few months, I noticed something crazy happen. Whenever I opened a new game, I had a good chunk of the server looking to be in one of my games. I seem to have an unofficial waitlist for games opening up. After several months, people started commenting that I should be getting paid for all the work I do homebrewing my games, and consistently delivering solid sessions. So, here I am! (I may also be in need of additional income) What makes me different? Well you see, I am a goofball. But in all seriousness, I spend the majority of my sessions in character. I give each NPC a personality, and voice act them, RPing with you to drive us deeper into immersion. I strive for realism, so rules are more of guidelines when considering immersion. I make heavy use of battlemaps, animations, and music in Foundry VTT. I do my best to utilize Theatre of the mind as little as possible, giving you visual aids wherever possible. Most importantly, I have some pretty amazing custom adventures coming up later this year! (As well as an original TTRPG) I strive to deliver consistently exciting games that you will talk about for years to come!

Character creation

Creating your character

I will send you a campaign link on ddb for character creation. I can also dedicate time during session 0 to character creation. Having your characters ready ahead of time will really help to keep things smooth.

The current party

This adventure will run 8-10 sessions, and we will play bi-weekly. You will be a monk, with multiclass as an option. I also have a custom gunslinger monk subclass called Way of the Lead Bearer. You have the option to use it at start. You will be starting at lvl 9!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will not need a webcam, as I do not force anyone to turn on a camera. However I highly recommend a good microphone. A decent set of headphones is also recommended. Since I run on Foundry you will need a computer to play.

What Joshk brings to the table

I will be bringing the adventure on Foundry via the internet, no need to worry about a thing!

Safety

How Joshk creates a safe table

This campaign will run about 8-10 sessions, depending on how fast the party moves. There will be periods of heavy RP, sessions that are entirely combat, sessions that will give a mix of both. This campaign is friendly to beginners and veterans alike. I stream all my sessions, so joining means you agree to me streaming. I am the only one who will be on camera, so no need to stress about a good webcam. I do not charge for session 0's. And I use my session 0's to laydown expectations, introduce players and characters to each other. It is quite common for me to include a small taste of gameplay in my session 0's. I do allow breaks as needed.
