And Then, The World Kept Spinning

And Then, The World Kept Spinning

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | One-Shot

About the adventure

It is the end of the world, or... it was, about... 500 years ago? Devils rule in this post apocalyptic sci fi fantasy setting. The world is scary, dangerous, and kind of apathetic actually. Turns out the end wasn't all it was made out to be. So what now? Centuries ago a futuristic magical society was torn apart by the agents of an evil god. Once they had ruined everything, they were left with an empty feeling, and an existential question. What now? Since then a kind of society has reformed where awkward lumbering infernal beasts navigate living amongst the descendants of survivors. This campaign will be roleplay focused, following the lives of down on their luck individuals just trying to get by in the apocalypse. The story will be driven by player choice, focusing on the balancing act of staying low profile enough to survive, while still living enough to value surviving.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

I don't normally leave reviews but I can't encourage y'all enough to join one of Jesse's games. I stated with almost no experience role playing and it is really hard for me to picture events in my head when they are told to me. However Jesse is not only an amazing story teller, but their community is so excepting and amazing. I have loved every game I have played with them, and I have made so many life long friends because of them. If you have a hard time imagining or picturing events and or scenarios then Jesse is a DM you want. They bring every encounter to life in a way that everyone can get absorbed into it. They know how to grab and hold your attention and it will leave you thinking of the session even after it ends. I always make crazy backstories and it is hard to imagine those events coming up in a campaign but Jesse just does it beautifully, and in a way that flows to well within the story. I could go on and on about their games but the core of what I want to say is after almost 2 years of playing with them I still can't get enough of their stories and worlds. If you want to make lifelong friends and cry over characters them please give Jesse's games a shot. You won't be disappointed!

Jesse is a fantastic story teller who always gives their player's a chance to shine. If you want to try something weird and cool, they will definitely play ball, without breaking the world. The worlds created are fully fleshed out and intricate. If you love the role play aspect of D&D, Jesse is the dm for you! Combat is also super fun!

Jessie ran a very fun, very challenging level 19 one shot for charity and I got to play in it. It got silly because most of the players were Monkey Clerics named stuff like Dona"tail"o and Micha"lemur"angelo and then combat started and our Wish Simulacrum got smashed into teeny pieces in round 1 and it got serious. It was level 19 combat in a crowded hallway for three hours with spells and effects flying so that the DM describing the whole hallway was just vibrating with all the magic going off - mages on both sides counterspells, walls of force, disintegration, banishments, mind whips, chain lighting, buffs, debuffs, and meanwhile the cleric monkeys all go melee. It was run really, really well. There was so much high level magic hijinks and it didn't slow down anything. You know that's when a DM knows his stuff.

How will character creation work

Characters will be level 3, time permitting there will be a session 0, no charge. Otherwise create them beforehand. Characters will be people with average lives and average jobs in the setting of an apocalypse. Ask yourself how your character would feel about the world they live in? Do they have romantic ideas of what used to be? Do they think things could go back to normal one day? Message me for further information about character creation or setting information.
