About the adventure

Yes, here your characters will be insects in a fantasy world inhabited by orcs, elves, and other standard fantasy races. You will largely fight other insects and small creatures, but soon you will discover powers meant for the higher races, and you will ascend to challenge them yourself. Will you rally your kin? Increase your size? Harness arcane powers? Here you will rise to walk among titans, and maybe even walk among their gods...

About me

In college I made my own table top adventure game, Chaotica. Everyone told me it was like D&D, which I tried years later, but still prefer my own creation. Now I'm here with Chaotica transformed into a spreadsheet that lets me create maps, characters, factions, lore, branching story lines, and more with the push of a button. Chaotica may be right for you if you want: -Combat that doesn't last forever and a story that moves forward with a regular pace -To play in open worlds without railroading while also maintaining a good story structure -Easy to learn games that don't get hung up on rules and focus on story -To use an RPG to learn a second language (English or Spanish) -To use an RPG to write a novel, with an experienced writer to help you work things out -Procedural stories created just for you -Fast and interesting one-shots that can easily evolve into larger games if desired -Chapter based campaigns that can be replayed to get different endings. -Did I mention that I encourage you to research your own spells? What you will *not* see in my games: -Lots of pretty maps and artwork. Hard to produce on the fly. -Published scenarios and campaigns from D&D and other systems. I can imitate them though, if you like. FATE appears quite similar to Chaotica. -Voice acting. I can do it, but it's better when I don't.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll create the characters in session zero. Anything with an exoskeleton will do, and probably a few other similar critters may be acceptable. You may think of your class first if you want, but it's best not to restrict yourself to the traditional race/class paradigm. If you go in with only a bug, you never know what you might find in the starting area, but if you have an idea of what kind of powers you want, I can give you a nudge in the direction in session zero, which incidentally will overlap with your exploration of the first area. If you want to come up with some fantasy bug, that's fine too, so long as it starts bug sized. A Goliath Tarantula is probably about as big as you can be, I won't let you start as a giant squid.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have zoom, have a microphone, have an idea for what bug you want to be, and what kind of story you want to have. I can deal with the rest. Chaotica rules are simple: I describe areas and situations, you tell me what your character does, I give you the results, repeat.

What Samuel Foreman brings to the table

I bring Chaotica, a ravenous world creation engine, and an experience of fast smooth decision based combat. I am told that it's basically FUDGE. In my games, you can always explore, always make your own path, and push the boundaries. I give you simple and fast gameplay with new worlds that we will explore and discover together.

Safety

How Samuel Foreman creates a safe table

The first thing that's likely to happen is something giving you more power beyond that of an average insect, maybe not much, but enough to threaten a humanoid (titan). Session zero will establish the general tone of the game, and with something like this it would be easy to go for something epic, silly, or using more intrigue and subtlety. Will you get bigger and bigger as you level up? Will you channel arcane powers far more vast than your tiny frame? Will you use necromancy to pilot the corpses of titans? Odds are good you will start in some magic vault or library that has been left unattended. After that... up to you. Session zero will also address what kind of story you want to have, at least in terms of genre.
