About the adventure

The planet in question is called Arrakis, and it is one of the most inhospitable worlds in the whole Imperium. No drop of rain has ever fallen on Arrakis, and the entire world is one vast desert full of deadly sand- storms and giant worms that can swallow buildings whole. So, the desert-dwelling Fremen of Arrakis know it by another name. They call it Dune. In the adventure the players take the roles of agents of House Atreides investigating a report of spice smugglers operating in the desert of Arrakis. However, a trip into the sands of Arrakis brings all manner of danger, from the lethal Fremen to the deadly giant sandworms. This Dune adventure is designed to introduce you to this groundbreaking sci-fi universe, setting the stage for the climactic events that follow the arrival of House Atreides on Dune.

About me

I'm here for collaborative storytelling and world-building. I aim to create a welcoming space for players to try new things, have fun and share our enthusiasm for RPGs. From hunting vampires to becoming vampires, I'll lead your characters on a fulfilling journey and we'll spin a good yarn together. I love to introduce beginners to ttrpgs and new games. I try a lot of new games myself so I am very familiar with how it feels to learn something new. I hope I'm able to help my players delight in learning games. My background includes training people at work and writing instructions. Helping people play games is a fun way to use that skill set. I've been organizing a TTRPG meetup for 5 years focused on creating a welcoming space for marginalized gamers. I helped guide the group to be open to all genders. Running the group really helps me to see how to create a supportive environment for marginalized people and how that environment supports the larger community. The biggest game I ever ran was a 20 person West Marches campaign. That game honed my communication and organization skills and certainly helped me to negotiate tricky situations between players. Making people feel welcome and comfortable in this amazing TTRPG space is my primary goal.

The dm with the most in depth session zero I have seen! It’s very precise and clear I n player and gm limits for a smoother in game experience and expectations set out for both sides. Within the first session they were very open with what the game was about and honest about what trigger warnings would apply!

Al was so wonderful! We were all total noobs when it came to Vampire, and Al made us feel right at home. They did an excellent job of navigating what were some especially off the wall decisions from our group, and still managed to bring us to really emotional story beats. Their game was the most fun I've had as a player in a VERY long time!

Al is an outstanding game master, especially for newcomers to tabletop RPGs. They have a natural talent for teaching rules in a way that's clear, engaging, and never overwhelming. Their patience and encouragement create a welcoming space where new players feel supported and confident to dive in. Sessions run smoothly thanks to their strong grasp of the system and ability to adapt on the fly, keeping the game fun, focused, and flowing. Highly recommended for both seasoned players and first-timers!

Al ran such a fun daggerheart one shot for us! It was my first time playing and they were so good at explaining any rules for the group and creating a game where each player got to have their moment. Thank you!

Really fun. Very helpful in learning the new Daggerheart system. Hit all the high points and made sure everyone felt safe and stayed with in the group's line and veils. Thank you.

Character creation
Creating your character

Pregenerated characters are available for this oneshot adventure. The character sheets will be available to view in Roll20 a week before the session date. We'll choose characters during the first 30 minutes of the session.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

You will need a mic. You will need to join the Roll20 game and log in through a web browser. You will need access to Zoom through a web browser, desktop app, or phone (you can call in if you don't want to use the app).
