About the adventure

THE GODS ARE WARRING ABOVE AND THE FALLOUT IS RAINING CHAOS ON THE WORLD BELOW…. But whilst the gods are too busy to pay attention to the damage they’re dealing below, you’ve still got a life to live and a mouth to feed. Magic comes at a cost to the world, the first spell cast after “The Calamity” caused all the continents to collide, which in itself caused a world load more chaos. You work as part of a mercenary company called “The Calamity Crew”, adventurers for hire taking on all sorts of various tasks for all sorts of various employers contracts with all sorts of various results, rewards and consequences. But most of all, you’re trying to make enough money to “De-Calamatize” yourself after every quest…. To make things more hilarious , every time the threads of magic that run through the world (which are under great strain from the war above) are twanged, strung or plucked, we’ll roll on a D1000(!) table for a totally random result that may or may not be directly effecting the part of the world you’re in. This game is all about excitement, randomness and improv. All the contracts are randomly generated, and should lead to an utterly chaotic, but hilarious time for all involved. If you’re just starting out too, this is an excellent way to pick up all the new and interesting stuff you could potentially do! Well be using Dungeons and Dragons 5E in an online Theatre of the Mind (with some occasional OwlBear Rodeo encounters) game set in my homebrew world of a Haven. Bring your own character, we’ll randomly generated some contracts and get our crew deep into the chaos of The Calamity!

About me

Hi! I’m Jayke, I’ve been involved in our nerdy hobby world for roughly 20 years at this point and I’ve been DMing 5e D&D for 7 of those years. I love to run theatre of imagination games as I really enjoy helping create an image in your mind and sharing in the madness that that can be! In my in person games, I compliment this with well painted miniatures and 3D battle maps! I’m a forever DM, I love DMing, it’s my favourite part of roleplaying. Improv is definitely my strongest skill in this domain and I can’t wait to share it with you. I’ve got a ton of energy and passion for the game and love DMing for new and veteran players alike. I’m friendly to all, as long as you’re up for having fun!

So at the start of the campaign I'd not been a player for a while, and was just excited to try something new. As a player he allows everyone the chance to explore and feel what's right for them. When the campaign came to the end I genuinely felt sad to leave the world he created but he also has plenty of one shots and wouldn't hesitate if he was dming a game to join as soon as places became available.

The session was a lot of fun, Jayke has a good way of blending a range of different player skill levels without it feeling either like you're out of your depth or playing with a bunch of newbies. The world building is great and the sessions are a lot of fun, especially as one shots. Cant recommend the games highly enough!

Jayke is super friendly and welcoming and really patient with the endless questions I have asked! As I beginner I was a little nervous about joining the campaign but it's been really accessible and he has helped every step so I'm much more comfortable playing now. He puts loads of effort and prep in to make everything run smoothly and keep it balanced and engaging. The games are so fun with hilarious twists and a good of combat and RP. There is a great homebrew world and a lot of interesting lore in his worldbuilding which adds a lot of new elements to explore. I would 10/10 recommend!

Had a few games GMd by Jayke and he always makes the effort. From articulating the story to knowing the rules would recommend.

Being new to RPGs, Jayke explained the rules well and made me feel very welcome in the group. He set the scenes well, and kept the story flowing making sure everyone was engaged in completing the overall goals.

Jayke has been a superb GM, very accommodating, I am a fairly newish player not as experienced as the other players in the group, and jayke has helped with anything I may of struggled with, and been very patient. The game itself he has been super immersive and fun gm. I couldnt reccomend him enough, for new and experienced players, and I look forward to every session. Well worth the small fee :) and after playing for some time time now with jayke I honestly couldnt imagine playing with another GM online I'm totally hooked. Once were through with our current campaign il definitely be joining the next one for sure... great gm and also I'd say a great friend now too :)

Character creation
Creating your character

For Oneshots: bring your characters to the session! Just stick to official WOTC 5e material and use standard array at Level 3! For campaigns: Character Creation will be on session zero, which I would like to do together, so we can agree on themes and ensure everyone’s is correct and prepared.

The current party

Bring your favourite or wackiest level 3 (Standard Array) character and have them thrown into the chaotic world that is Haven, a world asunder by a magical apocalypse known as the calamity. Every game you play of these will be different, so sign up to more if you liked the first and you’ll get a brand new adventure every time!

What to expect
Preparing for the session

A mic, so you can speak to us all, is excellent, and cameras are encouraged but not necessary. We can discuss what platform is best for all, be it discord, teams. Zoom or even Facebook rooms! There are loads of ways to make your character sheets, I have no preference to what you use, be it an app, DNDBeyond or a paper character sheet (my preference as a player) Also, access to discord is a benefit as we will have a chat group for in between game time.

What Jayke - Hall Of Legends brings to the table

I will provide images digitally through the campaign, but I would recommend you have dice to hand (yes real dice for online!) or a dice app. Plus something to create your characters with, either online tools, or like me, pencil and paper.

Safety
How Jayke - Hall Of Legends creates a safe table

As a DM/GM, I do not often use foul language, however occasionally it will be appropriate. I do NOT promote sexual themes in my adventures. Before we begin in session 0 I’ll go through a content checklist about what we find acceptable and what are just no gonareas for every players. I also enjoy hosting a near 24/7 chat space on discord to debrief, or just chat about the game amongst ourselves. Somewhere to get things out in the air if you need to too.
