Altar of the Elements. 5E Adventure
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
Our story is set in the world of Azorea, a land that was once controlled and tormented by a cruel council of dragons. While the dragons may be gone, the world still bears the scars of their reign. It has been 500 years since the dragons were expelled from this land, and 300 years since The Great War that followed their departure. For a time the world has known a tenuous, yet lasting stalemate resembling peace. Territory lines have been drawn, walls built, and prosperity has returned to the regions. Peace and uneventfulness only lasts so long however, as there are whispers on the wind of old magics returning to the land. Beasts and wonders, long since extinct, once again emerging across the land. This campaign will feature: engaging and challenging combat, mystery and discovery, exploration and hardship, political intrigue and high stakes social encounters.

Reckless is a fun guy who makes the game fun for everyone and can successfully keep players engaged with audio-visual aids and enticing storytelling that keeps people (or at least, me) up at night wondering what is going to come up next. He is also helpful toward new players and toward players who wish to do something creative, always within the realm of possibilities of DnD.
Reckless is a great dungeon master. He always listens to feedback and tries his best to make the games interesting. He always knows how to weave each and everyone's characters into the storyline in a way that is impactful and synergetic. As long as you voice your opinions, wants, or just your thoughts in general, he will accommodate for you. His storytelling is amazing, and he uses music, prepared scripts, and lots of media to really set the scene.
It was a 'simple' one-shot (which just happened to last longer than expected, as they often do ^^) but it still felt like playing with friends that you have known for a long time rather than a group of people that you never met before. Everyone could create a character that they would enjoy and the DM would adjust the story accordingly to better match the fun (weird?) characters that we created. The DM made sure that every player got their time to shine and that nobody was 'pushed aside' by others. By default we play by the rules as written but they are used as guidelines. If rules won't allow something but that something is just 'too cool' to do then we went with the new Rule of Cool. RP is encouraged as well (hence why most one-shots turn into 2 or 3-shots ^^) to ensure that characters feel more alive. Of course this all depends on the consensus of the group as well and the DM listened to our wishes to ensure we could all have a good time. If you are not sure if he's the 'right' DM for you then don't be afraid to ping him privately. Have a nice chat with him and ask him some questions. That way you can make a more informed decision :) Have fun All ^^

How to prepare
Players will simply need to have a working mic and a stable internet connection. We will be using Roll20 and Discord, so please have an account setup in Roll20 and a Discord account so I may add you to our games. Other than that, simply bring an adventuring attitude and a willingness to work with others and have fun!
What I provide
I curate the maps and characters in our world, along with Dynamic Lighting and a carefully chosen musical selection for each location. You can expect cities, towns, crypts, temples, and sprawling terrain. Over 30 full developed and hashed out locations strewn about the world with 100+ NPC characters for you to interact and deal with.
Gameplay details
As long as the rules of 5E are being adhered to I am a "Rule of Cool" DM. I want everyone to feel epic and powerful and do cool things, and as long as they are based in the reality of the game and the ruleset set out by WOTC...You can always try ;) My games are a mix of challenge, intrigue, mystery, horror, political intrigue, and subterfuge. We can hash out in our session zero how dark you guys will allow me to get when running our game. I am very flexible in this regard, I like to run a dark and dangerous game, but I can respect that many people don't like that. We will work together to create and exciting and engaging world within the confines of your comfort.

How will character creation work
We will begin our adventure at level 3, while I think that level 1 gameplay can be exciting, I firmly believe that good characters come from good story. I feel that by starting at level 3, you can have a clearer idea of who this character is and where they came from. We will create our characters together during session 0, where you can ask questions about the world and brainstorm how your ideas might integrate. I believe that all character creation should start with the characters background before a class or subclass even crosses into your mind. Who is this person? Where did they come from? What did they do before they became an adventurer? What caused them to start an adventuring career? How do they influence the world around them? Do they use magics or weaponry, or both? If they use magic, what kind of magic do they use? Do they manipulate minds? Blow things up? Protect their allies? By beginning with these kind of questions it becomes easy to create an image in your mind of the character and then a choice of class and subclass falls into place easily.
