About the adventure
There have been reports that the good farmers of Sleet-town, shepherds of snow-oxen, have been waking to find their cattle stolen. One day it is one farmer, the next it is his rival across the way. The heroes have been asked to investigate the missing snow-oxen by the Mayor of Sleet-town as they travel through, noticing a poster offering rich reward (500 gp) for solving the “case of the missing snow-oxen.” A fresh theft has happened over night. The victim, Farmer Joseph Tripplehorn, is distraught over the loss of his last snow-oxen - his last chance at income before winter completely sets in. He is worried that his family will not have enough gold to survive the dark months. As well as this, his last snow-ox was wearing a gem-encrusted cowbell - a valuable family heirloom. The tracks from the paddock left on the snow-covered field lead into the mountains, up a steep snow-covered path, and finally to the entrance of an old, abandoned mineshaft high on the side of the mountain.
