About the adventure
Beneath shifting desert sands lies a tomb long sealed. Its ancient king, restless damned heretic of his people, is stirring once again. A strange artifact has been uncovered and found its way into the hands of wealthy industrialist, philanthropist, and avowed pith helmet owner Hammond Delacroix, who just commissioned you and several other adventurers to accompany him on an expedition to unlock, explore, and research (read as: pillage) the crypt of the heretic king. What could go wrong? Last Gasp is a 5e one-shot from Dan Dillon and published by Kobold Press that does a phenomenal job of simulating an edge-of-your-seat expedition into the heart of a trap-laden tomb. While I've taken the liberty of changing a few of the original adventure's character choices (like replacing the stereotypical tomb-pillaging, hookah-smoking cowardly merchant with a much more believable stereotypical tomb-pillaging, pipe-smoking, condescending imperialist magnate,) much of the adventure is being run as written. It includes an awesome gimmick, some incredible ambiance, and, of course, plenty of puzzles, traps, enemies, and treasure to be encountered. Original adventure available here: https://koboldpress.com/kpstore/product/last-gasp-5th-edition/ which is incidentally also where the cover photo is taken from.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Greetings y'all, I'm a stand-up comedian and actor turned games academic turned professional DM and I've been playing/running TTRPGS (mostly 5e) since I was a wee lad of twelve. I've spent the last year running four concurrent Curse of Strahd campaigns for about twenty of my friends, as well as some custom one-shots. Here's what they've said about me: "Nathan is very good at responding to feedback and adjusting gameplay and tone to better fit whatever our group wanted to do. Everywhere we went in Barovia Nate deftly peopled with memorable, engaging, and charming NPCs that were just fun to interact instead of the usual cast of forgettable shop keeps, guards, and villains." - Nancy M. "Nathan took the time to help new players in our group learn the ropes-- he met with us over zoom to help with character creation and continued to patiently explain and reexplain rules and mechanics over the next year." A. Cooperman "Playing over Zoom or Roll20 is tough. Nathan did a tremendous job providing high stakes, moments of tension, sadness, humor, excitement, and satisfaction throughout our sessions. Even when we couldn't play for weeks, Nathan was awesome with reestablishing the tone without missing a beat and that helped all of us stay engaged." C. de Mari "They let us resurrect a European house music themed queer silver dragon who had been dead for a few hundred years and really knocked the associated lighting and soundtrack out of the park. His German accent could use some work, but their pun game is on point." - D. Carr "Nathan made me grossed out by an NPC who got turned into soup... over zoom... and I make model human organs for horror movies in my spare time." - D. Schlosser "Nathan is a great DM! He created a space that was comfortable, flexible, and fun, and it was especially beneficial for first-time players." - B. Bove Whew! Back to me: I can run regular campaigns or one-offs, but my specialty is running custom games tailor-made for individual groups of players. Drop me a line and let's roll some dice!

Creating your character
Please create a 6th level character however you prefer before our session time. I'll be easily reachable and happy to help or answer any questions as you do!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please have: a mic, a 6th level character made, and preferably both a zoom and a roll20 account. We may end up only using Zoom. Please also have dice or a digital roller you like. A camera is great, too, but not required.
What Nathan brings to the table
I bring the thunder. And the peril. And, when relevant, the laughs.

How Nathan creates a safe table
CW: claustrophobia, asphyxiation, drowning, and other less specific forms of violence and gore. Mild substance use in the form of tobacco and alcohol. The premise of this adventure (graverobbing an ancient tomb) is pretty colonialist from the outset, but I've done some work to try and skew the narrative away from traditional (harmful) stereotypes as best I can.
