Just finished Tyranny of Dragons with Soramus and had a great time! Soramus is a great DM. Very laid back and easy-going, celebrates your successes as a party and rolls with the punches, adapting to your playstyle and strategies to give players ample room to enjoy their abilities and strategies and, eventually, challenge them. Soramus ensures the party gets their hands on a lot of consumable loot (potions, scrolls, etc.) which definitely helps boost the martial players. A lot of fun and definitely recommended.
Mae is a solid 5/5 DM and the most talented of all the DMs I've played with on SPG at designing unique encounters. She's incredibly creative and comes up with well-crafted mini-narratives encapsulated into small encounters that can both make you feel something and challenge your character's (or party's) strengths and weaknesses. She's also incredibly skillful at voicing NPCs; it's rare that NPCs have similar voices or aren't distinctive from each other despite there being a ton in the module we're playing. I also really like playing at a table with so many LGBTQIA+ people, and Mae fosters the right space for LGBTQIA+ gamers to come together and feel comfortable.
Nyx's table is a fun one where you can expect to have a good time with challenging combat and entertaining RP, as their take on the personalities of many NPCs is engaging and amusing. I like that Nyx gives folks space to experiment with 3rd party materials and homebrew while also keeping an eye on game balance and difficulty. I often feel that the encounters have been tuned carefully to challenge the party's power without feeling punitive; we have room to show off what our classes or subclasses are good at while also having our weaknesses sufficiently challenged, which gives us a chance to develop new strategies and synergies amongst party members. Nyx encourages RP moments between party members which has allowed our characters to get to know each other, making the party more cohesive, which is always a great feeling. Their table is also very inclusive for LGBTQIA+ gamers which is well appreciated and rare in SPG, from my experiences. All in all, enjoyable experience and a solid 5/5.
Marissa is a super sweet DM who really puts a lot of effort into ensuring her players are having fun and feeling comfortable at the table. She has a great intuition for when someone might be harming the vibe of the group and acts swiftly to make sure session 0 rules are followed.
