I am enjoying playing with Dopefish. He's great at embracing player creativity, whether it's with character creation or in-game actions, and he adapts well to spontaneous character behavior. The games have been a nice balance of casual events, intrigue, humor, suspense and action. Encounters have not felt contrived, and combat rarely feels like it's the only way to resolve the tension. He uses a Rule of Cool to great effect, but not excessively, and he has a knack for understanding what the players' intentions are. Dope's character voices, while distinct, are subtle and understated, and blend into the scene smoothly; they aren't exaggerated or cartoonish like some GMs' voices can be. I actually tested multiple campaigns of his before settling on one, and in both cases - despite joining a campaign-in-progress - I felt immediately welcome at the table. After playing in multiple groups, I know he is willing to follow the storyline in the direction that the characters take it. Overall, my sessions have been a lot of fun, and I highly recommend Dopefish.
I look forward to Charlie's game each week. He is friendly, communicates well, is knowledgeable without being pedantic, and is well-prepared with world building, plot hooks, NPCs and encounters. The out-of-character atmosphere around the 'table' is cooperative. So far, his campaigns have been exactly as advertised. [Update: It's been more than a dozen sessions since the above review and it all still rings true. I play in two different campaigns with Charlie as GM and I appreciate that they are both significantly and appropriately diverse in style and tone. He is not a one-trick pony.]
