Loaver is an ideal DM for a beginner—laid back, patient, willing to explain things (and more than once if necessary!). The one-shot was a ton of fun, and he maintained a comfortable pace. I never felt rushed when it took me a minute to figure out my actions/spells, but things never lagged either. There was also room for role-playing but absolutely no pressure to perform if you wanted to be casual about it. I'm sure I'll be playing with him again!
