Just played "Angel is a Centaur Foal," a one-shot run by Shawn set in the Epic Tavern universe, and it was the best TTRPG session I've ever played. The balance was perfect. One of our characters finished with exactly one hit point. That's a DM who knows how to keep tension razor-sharp without it ever feeling unfair. Pacing was just as tight. Nothing lagged, nothing felt rushed. Every scene hit. The player characters were deeply developed and a blast to play from the start. The big bad was devious and tricky, the underbosses felt like real threats, and every NPC belonged in a living, breathing world. Story hooks build into a larger universe with earned rewards that span sessions and characters who will grow over time. I walked away genuinely excited to see what happens next. Shawn, the DM, was warm, personal, and incredibly knowledgeable. He made everyone feel welcome while running a creative, surprising session. If you get the chance to sit at Shawn's table, do not pass it up!
