I had a poor onboarding experience and would not recommend this table for players new to building characters directly in Roll20. I joined shortly before session, told the GM I normally use D&D Beyond/Beyond20, and explained I had not built a Roll20 character before. After joining, I learned more table-specific character creation rules through Discord that were not clear to me from the listing. The GM did try to help, but the process felt rushed and confusing, and I spent the hour before game plus part of session trying to fix sheet issues. I understand not accepting an outside stat roll. My issue was the unclear onboarding and how the situation was handled. When I asked to leave/refund, the GM declined a full refund and later said my behavior was a “red flag,” that I wasted his time, and compared my difficulty following setup to children and “specially abled” players. Not a good fit for newer Roll20 users.
In my experience, the session included an encounter that felt significantly different from how the game and NPCs had been presented earlier. An NPC we had previously interacted with appeared to have much higher durability and damage output during an “honor duel,” along with additional abilities that made it difficult to engage effectively. While I was able to take standard actions like opportunity attacks, the overall interaction felt very one-sided and not aligned with prior expectations going into the scene. Players who prefer a consistent mechanical experience or expect encounters to closely match earlier representations may want to clarify expectations with the GM ahead of time.
