I would tell them rather he was my first GM, I can still remember struggling with the rules and role playing and he would help me. He would pass quite some time before the sessions helping me improve my character creation making it be exactly what I had envisioned. During the sessions he would do detailed definitions about everything and wasn't the type of GM that would be mad about us not knowing each micro rule and calculations.
