About me

I grew up on the East Coast USA, walking in the woods, or playing with original Star Wars figures & LEGOs. I was done with high school before smartphones, and video games weren't allowed at home either, so i did, and still do, a lot of reading. Raised on OT Star Wars & Middle-Earth, I like a variety. Everything from Star Wars Ext Universe, Star Trek, Firefly, Farscape, Stargate, Wheel of Time, GRRM, David Gemmel, Joe Abercrombie, & lighter stuff like Kim Harrison's Hollows, to classics like R.E. Howard, K.E. Wagner's Kane, Heinlein, Piers Anthony, Moorcock's Elric, I.M. Bank's Culture, & C.S. Friedman's Coldfire. Sometimes I feel like I've been 'playing pretend' my whole life, & thinking about possibilities &/or "What if...?" has been something I do almost instinctively. I like to be thorough, analyze, can sometimes be a perfectionist, & type fast, but I know how to shut my brain off, relax & have fun. I'm actually more introverted than not, but I get along with almost everyone & find it easy to work with and/or teach most people & groups of all sizes. I've been a player, teammate, coach, or assistant coach of games since before I can remember, & have enjoyed ALL the roles; from basic grunt/specialist, Squad Leader, and up to Commander [of BF/NS teams, & Fleets in EVE-O]. Some faves: Elvish Thinblades, sneaky assault rifles, & modified patrol starships. Effective top-contenders in their categories (speed & precision) with a little "extra"; more style, uniqueness, & custom creative flavor. Not just the physical objects, but also the meaning & history. Games: soccer, paintball, MTG, Civ, Nethack, War/StarCraft, Escape Velocity, X-Wing, Mech Commander, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls(2,3,4,5+mods), Everquest, Homeworld, Total War, Mount & Blade, Natural Selection, EVE-Online, Guns of Icarus, Dwarf Fortress, Distant Worlds, Verdun (Tannenberg), Conquest of Elysium, Knights of Honor, Space Rangers, Dungeons of Dredmor, BattleField (+various mil sims), & almost all the D&D video game adaptations. I've read the rules/mechanics, &/or seen actual-play of most all the preferred game systems below. I have more exp with D&D-style d20 & SW d6-like systems, but all TTRPGs have enough in common that i think it is more about storytelling & HOW you play than mechanics.
