About me

My first RPG was the BECMI D&D Basic Set, aka the Red Box. I played a first-level magic user, and I was hooked after casting my first magic missile. I went on to play a whole bunch of different RPGs with my friends through the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. Then life got in the way. I haven't played for a long while, but I'm getting back into it. So far as a player here and DMing D&D 5E for my 9 year old nephew and his gang of murder hobos. (To pronounce my name, say "Summer" without the "S" -- Ummer)

Had a great time playing DCC for the first time with a funnel adventure run by Skulliver. He deftly managed a sizeable party of sixteen 0-level characters run by four players (not quite so many by the end), all while painting a vivid picture of the world, having fun with NPC voices, and keeping the tone light and fun throughout. His Foundry instance was also nicely set up, making it easy to handle DCC’s plethora of funky dice and tables.

Great GM! We're running through a megadungeon crawl, and he's great at making the monsters come alive as real characters.

Great Shadowdark GM! He keeps us on our toes and moving along at a fast pace.

Jess is an awesome GM. I experienced an awesome introduction to Mothership via her Gradient Descent one-shot. She's really good at all the key GM skills: knowing the rules; vividly describing the world, playing the NPCs as distinct characters; leaning into crazy player actions; etc. And her ability to do voices is great. Jess played a key NPC at the end of the session with a voice that was genuinely creepy. I loved it.
