About me
Hello! My name is Kirby and I've been an avid consumer of all things Dungeons and Dragons for almost 20 years. Ever since I picked up my first R.A. Salvatore book, I haven't been able to get enough. While the first half of my tenure as a D&D fan were all spent as a player, I have spent the last 10 years growing my skill and confidence as a Dungeon Master, running both homebrew campaigns and official adventures. While I am always down to jump into a structured adventure, I am also hard at work writing an entire five act campaign based on the Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass publication, which I'm hoping to have ready to play by Summer 2026. As a DM, I prioritize player experience over everything. If everyone at the table isn't having fun, something is fundamentally wrong. Additionally, while I pride myself on running a tight ship when it comes to rules in order to keep the game on track, I agree with Matt Mercer when he says that "if a rule genuinely prevents a player from having fun in the moment, it isn't worth holding on to it." Tactical combat, environmental interaction, social intrigue, political machinations, and frequent puzzles are hallmarks in my games, so if you are just looking for hack and slash, we probably aren't a great fit. One boundary I generally set is that if your characters cannot coexist in a party without wanting to rob or kill each other, it probably doesn't make sense for them to be adventuring together in most cases. PVP is something that I actively discourage in games, as those dynamics have a way of leaking into real-world relationships and creating table drama that can threaten the table's culture. Finally, I don't tolerate racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, or any other form of marginalization between my players or characters. I recognize that complex social dynamics are part of world-building, but we deal with those things enough in reality - do we really have to bring them into our shared fantasy? By extension, any attempt to roleplay sexual violence or misconduct will result in an immediate dismissal from my table and there will be no invitation to return. To think up a character who would engage in that indicates that you are not a human being worth my time or effort.
