We played an Apocalypse World one-shot intended as an introduction to the system. It was very fun for me to rediscover the free-flowing collaborative narrative that the system encourages. We were able to make our characters fairly quickly with Steve giving guidance or advice when needed. Afterwards Steve allowed us players to exercise our own creativity by lightly holding the reigns of the narrative and guiding/fleshing out our ideas. The standout moment was when one player, who played a cult leader, got to flex her improv acting skills to come up with a ritual that the rest of the player characters watched. Steve set up that situation and gave a few prompts to help that player along, then sat back and allowed the player to take the reins of the scene. Finally, Steve was very open to feedback from the players, while not bending over backwards to player whims. That is definitely a quality I strongly appreciate in a GM.
