About me
Wotcha. Sometime around June 1976 I discovered a new game by Gary Gygax. Played it for a few years with my neighbour. It wasn't until 2 years later that we found out we had got it all wrong when the "Advanced" version was released, but at least we had fun. Found some people who shared the same hobby ... and then 49 years passed. I think we skipped 4th Edition and by the time 5th Edition came around everyone else was married with children and couldn't hang out any more. Anyhow, here we are, now looking for some other folks to hang out with. I believe I started playing as a way to focus my Autism. I found the rules for talking to people to be of great comfort. Nowadays I am more interested in exploring new personalities, to see how they would react to differing situations and stresses. Been mostly messing around with 5th Edition (2014) with some family members (but gathering them all together is worse than herding Tabaxi). I have limited experience with the 5th Edition (2024) ruleset. Anyhow, that's some about me, yell if yah wanna know more.

First Impressions Count. Sessions Booked - 3 Sessions Cancelled due to other players clashing work times and partying - 2 Sessions Actually played - 2/3rd of 1 Mike has done a great job in creating a fanatical community from a disparate group of 'Table Top' gamers. Mike's herculean week, running 12 differing campaigns and systems, is to be applauded for their dedication. There is a lot of crossover between players of Mike's campaigns. Apparently gamers will know each other; and have a shared history; from participating in many different campaign sessions with Mike. This leads to an atmosphere of 'friends' playing together; of a clique; with in-jokes and memories, enjoying each others company over a shared story. What it does not lead to is a sense of immersion within the campaign, as players will often refer to matters outside the game. This was supposed to be 'Folk Horror', yet cracking jokes of how someone from a differing campaign wants to pay to kill you is detracting from that. Roleplaying has taken a back seat, as friendly rivalries from differing campaigns overlap e.g. I observed two Blue-on-Blue incidents that was put down to this 'rivalry', "Oh, I didn't mean to stab you and kill you! I was 'Charmed', Honest!", and this was allowed by DM Mike. PvP allowed?! As a paying customer I wanted to play some DnD and do some role-playing. This is not that.
