Brian was a wonderful welcoming GM for our one-shot of Monsterhearts 2. We had a mix of brand-new and experienced players. What stood out to me, besides their genuine enthusiasm, kindness and thoughtful MCing of the game, was how they set us up for success: - setting expectations for tone, genre, safety and the inevitable frustration at the end of the session because ultimately it's only a taster - teaching with a deft hand as we went instead of trying to front load rules - sharing their thoughtful perspective on Powered by the Apocalypse games that re-ignited my own interest in trying my hand at running a PbtA game despite being a little intimidated by the mindset shift from most other stuff I've run. You might want to play in one of Brian's games if: - you are new to PbTA but are curious about the idea of 'play to find out' and a more improv-inspired style of play - the idea of "Buffy but gayer" (Monsterhearts 2) lights your fire - you're looking for an inclusive welcoming table that will let you step out of your comfort zone Brian is probably not the GM for you if: - you are looking for a linear tactical style of play - you are uncomfortable with queer themes - you're averse to playing an imperfect character who makes bad decisions - the word 'drama' gives you hives
