I’ve had the pleasure of having Leland as not only one of the best DM’s I’ve experienced but also as a player in a two year-plus-ish campaign. He strikes a fantastic balance between mechanical mastery and rich, character-driven storytelling, creating an experience that feels both engaging and emotionally meaningful (I've cried too many times). He makes the world feel alive with his detailed settings, makes his villains lovingly hateful and his NPC’s endearing. One of Leland’s greatest strengths is how thoughtfully he weaves each character’s backstory into the larger narrative, even when given a rough outline. Every player at our table has gotten their moment of mystery and emotion. Whether you’re a newer player still figuring things out or a vet with years beneath them he meets you where you are with patience, clarity, and genuine enthusiasm. As a GM, Leland is laid-back, approachable, never pressures anyone to roleplay outside their comfort zone, and is always willing to pick up the roleplay slack on off days. At the same time, he offers just the right amount of guidance, helping nudge the party forward when needed while still giving us the agency to take the story in our direction. With a full roster of fantastic NPC voices and honestly, they are such a fav, it’s impossible not to get drawn into the world he creates. If you ever get the chance to play in one of Leland’s games, take it. He’s the kind of DM who makes you look forward to every session and who elevates the entire table just by being there. 10/10, truly exceptional.
