This GM tends to spend a lot of time trying to make sure the players enjoy themselves as much as possible. I could tell he would take careful note of when to adjust things to help the players without straying too much from the story. He also took the time to make sure the players had as much time to role play their characters as they wanted--which provided a very fun environment, but would also make sure to introduce things that helped remind players that things still needed to be done via other interactions such as suddenly something popping out at us during the character conversations.
