My first-ever GM, Dex has always been patient with beginners, letting us try things out, explaining factors to consider, helping us with character questions (build and background) and aspirations, all while verbally painting vivid pictures of the scenes and scenarios of an original world and story. He's also an artist, and has made us great maps to explore, cool depictions of monsters and artifacts, and clever puzzles. He surprises us at times with monsters, secrets, and harrowing fights, but keeps the stories and scenarios fun and engaging, even when our characters are panicking or missing hints. I especially loved the save-Santa game he made one winter, where the map worked like an advent calendar, revealing clever twists on themed monsters and challenges. I got to keep a present-box mimic prop and shall treasure it always.
