I have had four years of amazing experiences with Josh, almost weekly for that entire duration, both playing alongside him and seated at his table. I have never experienced a matching level of meaningful player agency and responsiveness at any other DM's table. Josh is the kind of DM that allows you to truly inhabit your character's mind, between ensuring that the story is engaging to the unique perspectives of the PCs, finding and pulling at bits of backstory and character interaction to enrich PC involvement, and thoroughly engrossing storylines that stand on their own. Some of my most beloved characters have lived at his table, in the stories he weaves, and found redemption, salvation, loss, revenge, love, and belonging. He puts an intense amount of detail into NPC design (including artwork, voices, unique personalities) and his maps and encounter design are absolutely top-tier. The adventures are enthralling, and with the right party, I have borne witness to some truly epic tales. Every day that I get to sit down at a table with Josh is a good day. If you sit down with him for a game, I'm confident you'll feel the same.
I had the extreme pleasure of playing in Robert's games for ~3.5 years, and he continued to amaze me with the sheer quality of his story writing, world-building, map design, and responsiveness to players throughout that entire experience. The amount of effort he undertakes to create a fully immersive game, all the way down to custom handouts for many occasions (magic items, found notes/journals, custom rules references, etc.) is an ideal I strive to achieve in my own games. I would 100% describe Robert's settings as "serious," which is not to say we don't laugh our heads off sometimes, but the intrigue, depth of plots, seriousness of interactions with events, NPCs, and encounters are all exactly what I look for in my roleplaying experiences. I have had many of my all-time-greatest DnD experiences, character moments, and personal roleplaying developments at Robert's table in the last few years, and I very much look forward to the day that I get to sit down at that table once again. If you're fortunate enough to play in a Robert game, you will probably feel the same way.
