Duncan is a master storyteller. His commitment to character development extends beyond stats and abilities; he gives our characters highlight moments and encourages us to roleplay amongst ourselves and the NPCs. An example of this is one of my favorite moments in a Pathfinder game, my character had been downed twice and still kept attacking even as my allies pulled me away (wounded 2 and prone!) but one of the other players ran into another room and begged an NPC we had a contentious truce with to aid us against the big bad monster we were fighting just next door to them. Our efforts to befriend them and our arguments for having them help us let us escape the battle ourselves and flee to safety before I got my character fully dead. That sort of encounter resolution isn’t drawn from the adventure path but from the choices and conversations fostered by Duncan’s DMing style. He ensures every player feels seen and heard in the games I’ve had him as a DM.
