As a total beginner, I don't have much to compare to, but even so, Jarn is an incredible story teller. I had really good time! So, if you are new and are hesitating, don't! This is most likely who you're looking for.

I had a one-shot with Darren and it was a blast! This was my very fist DnD session ever, so I don't have to compare it with. But having the actual grid board seems really nice. And hard-drawn maps is a really nice touch. I spent the entirety of it flying around and missing all my spells. But, luckily, a really nice monk companion (who didn't even use his boomerang) carried me through it.
