Ryan's allowance for player agency sometimes gets him in trouble... One of my favorite sessions I ever played involved the party and I using our magic to convince historical warriors that we were gods and stopping the battle of Thermopole, thereby cancelling all 20 quests that he had planned for us. To be fair, he had planned to throw away 10 of them depending on if we sided with the Persians or the Spartans, but he couldn't find a good enough reason for them not to believe we were literal gods, considering it was set in regular old history. All of this is to say that Ryan is a fantastic DM who lives by Rule of Cool and gives his players plenty of opportunities to help create the story. He's also in school for game design and loves playtesting his homebrew systems. I recently started a new campaign with him and some players who are entirely new to tabletop, and he's been great at teaching them how to play and how to be good party members.
