When I started playing again a few years ago and started in person, it was awesome. I enjoyed DnD as a younger lad and seeing the level of detail and work that Aj Vanek put into our games made the experience so much fun. When I found that the same group, (most of them), started on the new online games after our campaign was over, I was a bit turned off by it. We all had played a couple of "live" sessions while others were remote and that was chaotic at best. I have to say that now that I have been playing online for a few sessions, I am looking forward to each week, like I was on the monthly in person games. Yes, crosstalk can be a bit much and sometimes you have to repeat or wait for the silence to get your point across, but that was the same countless times while playing live. Having to pay to play was at first something that I was not interested in after playing for "free" with my friends in person, then I realized "free" was not so free. Paying for a hotel for the night, paying for snacks, gas and drinks. Now, I play in the comfort of my home and get all the drinks and food I need right here. Does online lack some compared to in person...??? ALWAYS. But it has some great plusses as well. AJ makes a great game as always and the level of detail and the amount of special effects and things that just can't be done on a real gaming table makes the sessions extremely fun. The sound and tech issues have been worked out and we rarely have any issues and when we do, they are fixed easily. Take it from me, try one before you dismiss it completely. I know I would be missing out if I hadn't tried and now I can't wait for another adventure to begin.
