The dm and the players were fun, and he was patient with me as a newbish player.

Chris is great at walking new players through the mechanics and spirit of the game, and introduces skill checks in fun flexible ways to help the players get used to them. He was also available to my group of players to help them set up their characters, and had stock ones ready for them. I also play in another game he runs, and he keeps the story fun and interesting, and accompanies it with beautiful handmade settings and objects (including a boat with sleeping quarters inside). He's also willing to listen to unique ideas, and work backgrounds into the quests. Lots of fun!
