I’ve been with Destiny for a while, well over a year at least. There’s no good way to cover everything, so I’ll go as mentioned. Scheduling is tough when it comes to DnD, as we all know. People get sick or busy, DMs get sick or busy, or something else entirely. It sucks looking forward to a game then being unable to play because of an unforeseen situation. Destiny and Reaper, though, have clearly thought about this. Due to having groups of around 5-7, having one or two, sometimes even most of the group absent isn’t really an issue. Myself and another player had a duo session with Reaper where we got to go on a bit of a side quest which was a blast, and ended up looping back to the main party at the end. It may have been a “filler episode” but it certainly didn’t feel like it. Speaking of players, Destiny and Reaper have a special way of dealing with the group. I’m not sure how, but we feel less like a party of adventurers and more like a group of friends, despite only having ever met through Discord voice chats. They tailor the sessions, Discord channels, and anything else you can think of uniquely to us— nothing is a copy/pasted template where you can see the DM has done fifteen of the exact same thing. The group is able to have all of our different playstyles, preferences, and backgrounds seamlessly meshed together through Destiny and Reaper’s combined skill, making what probably wouldn’t ever happen possible. Any wacky or silly ideas we have are taken and rolled with, and they make it work. Moving on to characters. I started with one that was pretty good mechanically, having high numbers that made my brain happy. For irrelevant reasons, I took a break from DnD (nothing to do with Destiny/Reaper). When I came back, I asked if I could swap characters because I wanted one that was more lighthearted and simple than intensive; they were both happy to allow it and worked with me to create something I was happy with. There’s many reasons they could’ve denied me entirely swapping a character— from race to class to items and everything else in between. But they made it work. We had an intro session that not only allowed me to integrate with the party quickly, but it also made sense to the other players’ characters and personal stories. Destiny and Reaper are both friendly and reachable at any point, for any reason DnD related or otherwise. I’ve found myself chatting with them and the party outside of our games due to the friendly environment they’ve created and hold. It’s super chill until we get to the games, where we’ve decided to “lock in”— we’ve definitely had sessions where we just chatted for the first hour about other stuff by accident. Due to having two DMs (kind of), going back to the point of scheduling, this allows us to play even if Destiny or Reaper can’t make it. Due to their proximity, there’s hardly any disconnect between the two and there’s no continuity issues. Another thing I want to mention is outside of the game. Both Reaper and Destiny are helpful and friendly beyond what they need to be, and are so welcoming to anything you may throw at them. Destiny is one of the sweetest individuals I’ve met (despite her devious streak!) and Reaper is one of the most resourceful. Destiny is so accommodating to life and circumstances, willing to work around them and assist in any way she can. Reaper is super knowledgeable about the semantics of the game on the player side, helping with character builds and such in an unobtrusive way. Tabletop RPGs are such a complex experience, but Destiny and Reaper make them absolutely unforgettable. I remember my first campaign with them, from memorable moments to what would’ve been stale dialogue had it been anyone else delivering it. An incredible experience from start to end, and one I’d highly recommended anyone with any skill level to try out. Best DMs I’ve had and likely will ever have.
Dev's game was the most fun I've had playing DnD in a long time. The music and sound effects, combined with atmosphere and map choice really gave you an almost movie-like visual of each fight. They integrated character backstories in unobtrusive ways, really making you feel like part of the world. Each character had unique voices and personalities, just adding to the experience. Absolutely a fantastic DM, and highly rated for good reason.
DB is a fantastic DM, from start to finish. He allows player creativity, both encouraging and rewarding it. DB has a unique way of “yes, and”-ing players, allowing things that you wouldn’t expect to work, work. He’s super flexible about being able to come to sessions and is very understanding. I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking to play darker campaigns, or just campaigns in general.
Jezebelle may just be the best DM I‘ve ever had. From the initial session zero, she made sure we were all comfortable with the subjects that could be discussed, and ensured we knew if anything we were uncomfortable with came up, we were free to either interrupt or PM her. She’s very upfront with what’s to be expected both in the campaign and out, as well as allowing freedom with characters and going so far as to weave their backstories into the world seamlessly. Further, Jezebelle created an entire ballad that she added into the story in a way that wasn’t obtrusive or pushy, it truly fit the scenario. Usually that’s hard to do because people like to use their creations even if it wouldn’t quite fit or make sense. But that wasn’t a problem at all. Her attention to detail and improv capability is remarkable. She’s so incredibly compassionate if you’re unable to make a session or have to leave partway through. I was very tired one day, and expressed that I may have to leave the session a bit early due to this. She ensures that it wasn’t boredom (it wasn’t!) and asked if there was anything she could do to help. I explained the situation and she was so, so kind about it and offered a few options. Finally, she begins and ends each session with the players— at the beginning, someone recaps the last session in case anyone missed it or forgot. After— and most impressively— she goes over players’ achievements, such as notable cooperation; she also asks for criticism of her DMing and what could’ve been done better. Not once have I seen a DM be so open and flexible to what they do. She fully embraces anything mentioned and is all the better DM for it. I would strongly recommend her sessions, new player or old.
