For players this is an extraordinarily fun module if you enjoy heavy roleplay and taking initiative in social situations at the table!! The NPCs are interesting and varied, the mystery is just involved enough to intrigue players but is not so urgent it overshadows campus life roleplay if you're table is interested in that. I love the boons/banes system for relationship building! If combat is the main reason you play Dnd, this is likely not the module for you. But if roleplay and character development are up your alley I highly recommend the Strixhaven module!

Dnd is my personal favorite, a great system if having structure/rules is supportive for you! I enjoy having resources to tell me if something is possible (can i scale that rock face?), exactly how to achieve it (roll an athletics check), and a way to know definitively whether I succeed or fail (high roll, low roll). There are definitely downsides to a game so crunchy, and i dont agree with every Dnd rule, but structure really helps me feel secure in how to proceed when there are disagreements about scenes, etc. I also love the thriving homebrew community around Dnd. So many weird and wonderful expansions, alternate settings, character options, etc are available.

Emi is a fun, supportive, and knowledgable DM! I’ve played in several of their one-shots and think their games are perfect for players who like heroic adventures (with time for player hijinks along the way), fun NPCs, and solving puzzles. Sometimes in Dnd I have trouble understanding where I am in a room or what I could do next in a scene, but in Emi’s games I’ve felt a lot more confident in what my character could explore or interact with next. They also set the mood at the table with music and used visuals like maps and NPC illustrations — loved that!!! Really leveled up the experience! They’re patient when players need help understanding the rules, so if you’re a beginning player I think you could have a great first experience in Emi’s games!

Maddy is a brilliant, funny, and caring DM, and I look forward to game sessions each week! She handles Session Zeros really deftly -- a great mix of having fun, getting to know fellow players, and making sure everyone can keep themselves and each other safe during the campaign. Because of that leadership I felt trust in her as a DM as well as my fellow players early on, which allowed us to really go for it in RP. She clearly cares about everybody's characters, and offers fantastic ideas to build out backstories and root every character in the world of the game. Very rarely have I felt like a DM was this invested in my character, and it's a truly wonderful experience. The scenes that I'm not part of feel like getting to watch my favorite show, because Maddy has the vibe of a great director bringing the best out of her star actors. I could go on and on but I think there's a word count on this thing-- TL;DR play with Maddy! You will not regret it!
