Jayk's sessions are as close to "in-person" as you can get, online. He definitely takes irl party chemistry seriously and makes sure we get along as people, before characters. Games are well ran and the story is well crafted. From my first session (which I think was maybe 2 or 3 sessions into the campaign), my character was integral to the story and the background. Super-creative way to insert me into the party. Love working with a DM that takes the cooperative storytelling part so seriously and works 1-on-1 to fit your concept and background into the plot. Pretty massive homebrewed world with enough familiarity to the real world to feel like your there and you know the place. Lore is unfolded as quickly (or not) as the party likes. Games are completely open-world, RP is as much as you want (Jayk forces some RP, which is a good thing in an RPG) and each encounter, until now, has always felt serious and necessary to forward the plot..not at all like a "dungeon crawl" where you fight for the sake of fighting. Can't go wrong with joining one of Jayk's games. *FYI - Our party has the best tank I've ever seen...if that sort of thing appeals to you, you should definitely talk with Jayk about joining the adventure.

Games are fun and engaging. Our first couple of games, Noralf spent extra time working with everyone to get their character mechanics down (eg, we have a Kenku Illusion Wizard...) which has really streamlined things in later sessions.

Love the homebrew. You can get as in-depth as you like and embrace the homebrew skills etc, or forgo it and stick with status quo 5e. Just a little extra for players that want it. The intro lessons/tutorial are well done, both to introduce you to the world as well as the mechanics of roll20 etc. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a super-beginner friendly campaign, or anyone looking to take their DnD complexity to a new level.
