I've played in Chris's games two times a week for over two years, and I can't recommend a better DM for a fun and engaging session. He has set a very high bar of standards and never fails to consistently bring high-quality games, both gameplay and narrative-wise. If challenging combat, ample opportunities for roleplay, and a good sense of humour sounds right up your alley, I can confidently say you won't be disappointed. Chris is an exceptionally patient individual, so even if you are a newer player with limited experience, you have nothing to fear! He presents a lot of creative liberty to his players, always open to new ideas to create a compelling narrative involving your character within the world at large. He's the type of DM who is willing to sit down and discuss how best to implement your ideas and expectations into the game, more often than not, exceeding said expectations with epic scenes and nuanced RP moments. In Chris's hands, even pre-written modules can be heavily altered to better suit the players. He is not shy to present entirely original chapters and quest lines with much thought and effort invested, oftentimes directly intertwined with a player's backstory! Time after time, I was amazed at how he pulled this off so seamlessly, his original content adding so much fun to the campaign while staying true to the lore and tone of the source module. When it comes to combat, Chris respects the 'rule of cool', welcoming creative ideas, and it is because he has an encyclopedic knowledge of the game with ample experience to expertly handle any wacky shenanigans players can sometimes throw at DMs. Every so often, he brings up some very old and obscure lore, or modernized monsters from past editions, all adding up to a very unique experience that keeps combat fresh at all times. TLDR, try Chris's games, and you'll see just how much of a fantastic DM he is.
