I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with a Dungeon Master (DM) on StartPlaying, regarding my experience with their Pokémon 5e, D&D 5e, and Starfinder sessions. As a paying customer, I expected a level of professionalism and engagement that was sorely lacking in these games. First and foremost, the issue of frequent cancellations has been a major point of contention. Whether it was the DM or a player, the consistent last-minute cancellations made it extremely difficult for the rest of us to enjoy and engage in the sessions. This lack of reliability has not only been inconvenient but has also disrupted the flow and continuity of the games, diminishing the overall experience. Regarding Pokémon 5e, while I understand that the rules and manual may be incomplete, it is the DM's responsibility to establish clear and consistent rules before beginning the campaign. However, the DM continually changed the rules, creating a sense of confusion and frustration among the players. This inconsistency made it difficult to fully immerse ourselves in the game and detracted significantly from our enjoyment. In addition, the DM's lack of preparation has been evident and troubling. Both in D&D 5e and Starfinder sessions, significant delays were caused by the DM's slow setup for encounters. These delays were not only a waste of time but also a major hindrance to maintaining the session's momentum. Considering that we are paying for these 3-hour sessions, it is reasonable to expect that the DM be fully prepared and ready to engage us with new and exciting content right from the start. Moreover, the DM's lack of passion and enthusiasm has been a recurring issue. As players, we look forward to sessions that are exciting, dynamic, and engaging. Unfortunately, the DM's approach often made the sessions feel boring and uninspired. This lack of excitement and creativity significantly impacted our anticipation for future sessions, turning what should be a fun and immersive experience into a tedious routine. In conclusion, I am deeply dissatisfied with the level of professionalism and quality provided by this DM. The combination of frequent cancellations, rule inconsistencies, poor preparation, and lack of enthusiasm has made these sessions more frustrating than enjoyable. For a paid service, especially in a gaming environment, players expect a certain standard that was not met in these sessions. This just wasn't the experience for me.
