To start this off let me just say Tim is just an awesome guy that is super likeable. I remember when I first started playing d&d about 6 years ago with Tim as the DM. My friends had invited me to play d&d with them and I'm not gonna lie, I downright refused the offer. I had heard stories about d&d with how nerdy and dark it can be and I wasn't about to try something like that. Until after a couple of weeks of begging me to join the group. I finally agreed to sit down at one game with them and that decision changed my life. Upon arriving at my friend's house to play the game I was the last to enter the home. I looked into the dining room seeing laptops, books, a grid map, dice and several miniatures over by the DM screen sitting behind was Tim with a big friendly grin on his face. I suspiciously sat down to an empty seat at the table and was given a character, a minotaur barbarian. Before jumping right into the game Tim gave me a clear and brief introduction of some of the background of d&d and seemed to address all the concerns I possessed regarding the game before I had the chance of asking most of my questions. He then explained my role as a barbarian being both a defender and striker (as this was 4e and I was a berserker barbarian) protecting the party and dealing damage. We started the game, was given some dice to borrow and we all had a complete blast! After the game was over my only disappointment was that the game wasn't longer. I was told about character creation and I proceeded to make my first character, prepping for the next game. And boy were those some sweet memories to come! Soon after, more people were invited to play d&d with us and there were times we had as many as 8+ people playing as characters. I honestly don't know how Tim managed to give us encounters that were both challenging and extremely fun! Even with a group containing such a large number to begin with on top of us all being novices Tim somehow helped make the game fun for everyone, making every player feel important in their role during and after the game. It wasn't long we started a new campaign with a smaller knit group containing just 6 of us, which is still a large group by d&d standards since the old game now had so many people. Only this game we would try the newer 5e and honestly this was the best game I ever played. Tim had us all come up with our own backstories embarking on a magical adventure crash landing off a flying sea ship transporting to a different dimension on a remote island with so many things to learn and explore. Granted I am a bit biased about Tim being a great DM. However, since those days I've been involved in other DM's games and have even started DMing for my own family games and I can tell you not one of them compared to Tim in displaying great storytelling, role play and combat encounters with amazing environments that are both challenging and fun. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to have a blast playing d&d for both old and new players alike.
